Ok well not in the soup yet (and perhaps never). BUT they are in the dining room for the time being.

Yes there have been a few additions to Casa De Loco. We picked up 6 Mallard Ducks and 6 chicks the other day.

Sadly we lost 4 of the Mallard's (I suspect they may have gotten too wet before they should have from playing in the waterer, can't seem to keep them out of it) but the other 2 are doing well and are starting to feather.

As for the chicks, they were... read more

(I pulled this from one of the discussion groups I’m on)

United States Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) has proposed legislation, H.R. 875, which would literally prohibit Americans from raising food for themselves, their families, or even for their animals, without the uber alles national government’s permission! Extreme statement? NOT! H.R. 875 makes Americans serfs on their own land! Read on; this one bill could wipe the United States, as a free nation, from the ... read more

Ok so I guess we don't waste enough tax dollars as it is. So lets pay dumb-assed legislators to propose asinine laws!!!!!!!! This one ranks right up there with the legislator who proposed a law to ban plastic testicles on vehicles.

WAKE UP ASSHOLES!!!!! YOU'VE GOT BETTER THINGS TO BE DOING WITH MY TIME AND MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!

Were they psychos?

Did they look like psychos? Is that what they looked like? They were vampires. Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a fuck how crazy they are!

Big time freebie score (in Backyard Garden Survivalists) Just wanted to share what made my day the last couple days.

The S.O. and I have been talking about and looking into the how too's of building a root cellar (among other ongoing projects). The one sticking point for us on most things is money (s... read more

Re: The Joe Schilling Knife (in MD-SPSA) I'd love to see pics. And also would love to know the how too's or maybe be pointed in the direction of some reference material on making similar things because the idea sounds interesting and I'm all about learning new things.

Things that aren't your business...

Who:

Here’s a bit of background information that most folks probably aren't interested in. I’m retired military. I was in the Army for over 21 years. I loved my job, the people I worked with, my family and my country. I worked as a power plant operator and instrumentation technician and metrology before that.

I’m an Eclectic Solitary Pagan. I have two great kids. Divorced. An avid reader. I’m into more hobbies than I could list or people would believe. Very much a non-vanilla person in any number of ways. And an all around nut case and pain in the ass with a dark or silly sense of humor as the situation requires (or doesn't).

What:

Ok well I’m asked often enough what my views are that I figured I might as well set them down for people to read. So appearing in no apparent order and quite by random are my thoughts on me (mostly because that’s the way I think and how my mind works).

I’m sure that I’ll be adding to this list as time goes on and things strike me but here’s a start. I’m sure that some of this won’t set well with some people and that's absolutely fine by me. This is me and you are you and I’m here to make me happy. Your happiness is your responsibility not mine and vice versa.

Anti N.A.I.S. (National Animal Identification System)

Pro Gun

Pro Choice

Anti Third Trimester Abortion

Pro Separation of Church and State (keep your god out of my politics and I’ll keep my politics out of your god, I’ve got my own and I don’t need yours. You’re welcome to yours and I’m welcome to mine and public schools and politics are no place for either of them)

Anti tax exemption for religious organizations. They derive benefit from the government just like everyone else and should foot the bill just like everyone else. At the very least the moment that they throw their at in the political arena through commercials, commentary, preaching or anything else the should immediately loose their tax exempt status because they have ceased to be religious in nature.

Anti Prayer in public school (you want that go to private school)

Anti Government funding of private school (that’s why it’s called private)

Anti Discrimination

Anti Quota

Pro Military

Anti Lawyer

Pro Profiling (within reason. Not many 90-year-old grandmothers blow up planes)

Pro Mind your own business and I’ll mind mine

Pro Polygamy (what you do is your business not mine and if it’s not hurting someone else then who am I or you to judge)

Pro Capital Punishment (some people just plain need to die)

Pro Assisted Suicide (what gives you the right to force me to stay around if I don’t want to?)

Pro Gay and Lesbian rights (again what you do is your business not mine)

Pro Pornography

Pro Freedom of speech (any speech. Like it or not if you’re pro speech then that means all speech. Not just the stuff that makes you happy or that you like to hear. Don’t like what someone is saying? Then don’t listen)

Pro Freedom of Religion (freedom of religion means all religions not just yours)

Anti Child Pornography

Anti Child Abuse and Molestation (see Capital Punishment)

Pro If you do the crime you do the time (if you’re old enough to do it then you are old enough to pay for it)

Pro Socialized Medicine within reason

Pro Hand Up not Hand Out (if you get welfare or the like you should have to give something back as well. Can’t find a job? Ok well there’s plenty of trash in this country that could be picked up. If the state is giving you the money you should damn well earn it somehow.)

Pro Mandatory Service Requirement (whether it be military or civil service or what have you. You live here and reap the benefits then you should contribute to them as well. "Want to learn more citizen?" If you know what that's from then you'll know what I'm talking about)

Pro Strong Foreign Policy (And no that doesn't mean bomb the hell out of them until they come around to our way of thinking either.)

Pro American

Pro Sex Ed in schools (ignoring sex isn’t going to make it go away and teaching about it isn’t going to make anyone do it either. Saying that sex education will make kids have sex is like saying that teaching drivers education causes car accidents.)

I'm sure that at this point there are those who are scratching their collective heads and trying to figure out how this all fits together and how I can rationalize the inconsistencies. Well I do and that's what makes me me. And it's those differences that make us all so interesting.

Where:

I was born in Delaware and lived there for the first 12 years of my life. After that I grew up in small town Maryland.

In my time in the Army I've traveled and lived all over that world. Just a few of the places I've lived, worked or spent some time are Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Colorado, Korea, New Mexico, Texas, California, New Hampshire, Arizona, Germany, Zurich, Florida, Virginia, Missouri, Egypt, Israel, Puerto Rico, Guam, Panama, Hawaii, Bosnia, Washington, and now back in Maryland. These are the highlights. Besides all these places I've probably been to or through just about every other state in the union.

When:

I was born 26 March 1964. I entered the delayed entry program for the Army 18 September 1981 and went active duty on 9 July 1982 and retired 1 April 2004.

Why:

Why not?

How?

Got me
