BLAWGY
Of Old Cars, Campers and Concerts
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 9:29 AMSo yesterday i needed a little "me" time, I had Fleetwood Mac stuck in my head and I stopped off at Rasputen to see if I could find anything on tape. I didn't.
But I *did* find Camper Van Beethoven! Remember those guys? I was like "Oh Wow Man!"
So I'm driving home grooving to Camper Van Beethoven...thinking about Go-Go Bordello....
Out of curiosity I check the internet and Camper Van Beethoven has just reunited and they are playing the Fillmore June 28th!
Its their 25th anniversary tour!! And they covered the entire Fleetwood Mac Tusk Album!
What a weird bit of weirdness....
Anyone wanna go ?

I have that CD! It's kinda great! And that weird Sisters of the Moon is creepy.
So, Camper Van is doing a concert with Built to Spill in the Mohave desert soon. They're going to be playing all of "Key Lime Pie" I hear. Crazy. |

I saw camper and Cracker play last year for my birthday. They can still totally rock the house. Go see them!

I admit it!
I've never been to the Filmore before!!!
A crime in itself having grown up in the Bay Area. Keep me posted & I'd be into going. :-) |

my brother went to high school with a few of them...pretty popular in Davis about 1986-88.

I see every Camper Van show that I can. They actually play here relatively frequently. Many of them were around with the Pouges cover band, Filthy Thieving Bastards two years ago. After that they played near New Years Eve to years in a row.(as previously mentioned generally on a double bill with Cracker). I also traveled from Pittsburgh PA to Washington DC to see them when I was on the East Coast (and when they released the Tusk album).
CVB totally rocks. To this day. Their New Years set list is still on my wall: Oh Death Waka Seven Languages Payed Vacation - Greece Tania Turquoise Jewelry Matchstick Men The Long Plastic Hallway Eye of Fatima (Pt 1 &2) Mao Reminisces About His Days in Southern China Ambiguity Song Good Guys & Bad Guys Take the Skinheads Bowling New Roman Times She Divines Water The History of Utah Hippy Chix All her Favorite Fruit |
