Well, times are slow here in the good ole' U S of A and I seem to have lots and lots of time on my hands. So I have decided to just start making and sharing tons of poi tricks and hoop tricks.

I have started two blogs both dedicated to learning new tricks, they feature lots of video tutorials and lessons, updated daily. The Poi Tricks Blog http://poitricks.org has been around for about 2 weeks now and has a pretty good chunk of lesson, about 35 now I think. The Hoop Tricks Blog http://hooptricks.org just started a few days ago and the content is building.

Please come and check it out and see what you think. I am also offering a "Trick Requests" , if there is a trick you have been wanting to learn, leave a comment and I will create you a tutorial.

Your feedback on these projects is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Here I am, accepted as a vendor to Sonic Bloom , but without a way to get there. Its in Winter Park Colorado, about 18 hours from here.

My van broke down, too expensive to fix.
Looked into renting a van, but since it will be full of all my vending gear I can't take lots of people with me and therefore gas will be too much to make it worth while.

So here is what I am manifesting and I need to tell the Sonic Bloom people by Monday if I can make it or not.

I need to either rent someones larger car...a van, vanagon, large suv, truck with camper shell...something like that, that gets at least 18 MPG.
or need to get a ride for me and all my gear. To give you an idea of how much i have, it would fill the whole inside of a vanagon plus using the roof rack for my pop up tent, grid wall and 10 10' long bamboo poles.

If I get a ride, I will pay more than my share of gas money and get you a ticket to the event.

please please universe get me to Sonic Bloom.....I put it out there and release it with no expectations....what will be will be and I hope to be dancin my butt off in Colorado!!

thanks,

I just got a bunch of super soft furry staffs left over from my booth at LIB.

Luxurious high quality furry staffs are a great way to practice your staff routine. Each staff is made from a 3/4" wooden dowel that is wrapped with a combination of blacklight reactive tape and sparkle tape. The soft ends make learning a little easier on the body and they are specially weighted to create a perfectly balanced staff.

Get them here http://www.thespinsterz.com/fire_snakes.htm

Fire Snakes are a unique type of poi that produce patterned streaks of fire instead of the traditional fire balls typically seen in poi.

Fire Snakes are weighted for balance and have hand stuffed hybrid wicks that burn twice as bright and twice as long as standard rope wick. Synthetic fiber is used in the wicks which burns as long as cotton stuffed wicks, but with a heat resistance higher than Kevlar so they have a much longer life span.

All poi are available as doubles, which adds a cathedral wick to the bottom for even more flame. The grips are double loops made of durable Kevlar and sewn with Kevlar thread for strength and durability.

Snakes are attached to #15 stainless steel ball chain (rated to 125 lbs.) and stainless steel quick links.

Consider using these poi with longer chains because the fire will work its way up the wick. If you choose to use shorter chains, do not dip the wick all the way to the top, and keep them moving to prevent burns.

Today I talked to a dear friend of mine and was asking me question about my experience at the gem and jam show. I was trying to figure out what I got out of going on this trip. WHat lessons did i learn? why did I go? I feel like a learned a lesson about needing to ask more questions about the events I am doing and that I need to give things more thought before jumping on the band wagon. I feel like things like this come up for me somewhat frequently when I am dealing with issues involving money. I seem to spend money before really giving it the thought that it deserves.

so what have I learned? why did I do this trip?

well, maybe this trip wasn't for me.....maybe this trip was for another. my dear friend Jsun. He just lost his companion and friend of 10 years. His beautiful dog Rogan. I hope you are ok with me writing this Jsun. He called me up the day before leaving which was 2 days after Rogan passed. he jumped on the bus from Portland and met me in Bend to accompany me on this trip. He was in a low state when he got here and was very down. But I feel that by the end of the trip his spirits were lifted and it seemed he had gone through a bit of healing. So maybe this trip was for him. It had nothing to do with me......this was for him and his dog Rogan, they loved the open road and had some of the best times of their lives traveling and road tripping. Jsun, I am glad you came with me. if felt like a good positive trip for all those past and present.

Thank you for this lesson in trusting that sometimes its not all about me.

after a combined driving time to Tucson and back of 48 hours...yes first 21 hours of pure driving then 26 hours back,......my butt was sore. tired of sitting for that long. I sure do love rental cars though, you can cruise them at 85 mph no problem, unlike my van that will start getting scary if I go that fast. The Gem and Jam was fun, but I would not do that long of a drive again for it. Maybe if I was going to to just buy gems and stones, sure and if I had 5 days to kill looking at the gems. There is just so much it is overwhelming. THere were gem dealers set up in parking lots, motels. restaurants, everywhere. it was just too much for me to take in and I started to feel all panicky. Kind of like the feeling I get when I am in a shopping mall for too long. The amount of gluttony and consumerism was just to much to take in. People paying $6000 for pieces of kunzite that were no bigger than a silver dollar. Huge quartz that were taller than I was! the amount of money that people were spending was just sickening! But why did they not want to buy my hoops? hmmmmm......I went down to vend at the gem and jam show thinking I would be coming back with a few G's in my pocket, but nope......instead it cost me $600 to go there and back.....damn.....sure could have used that money for better things. oh well. its done and over. I am happy ......kinda......that I went, it was fun. I did get to hang out with some great friends and got to see bassnectar rock it!

Would i go again? sure, but on a plane and not to vend.

I feel like i have sinned and boy did it feel and taste GREAT! I couldn't resist the urge any longer and saw the savory organic smoked bacon sitting there and the next thing i know it jumped into my mouth and I stated chewing. mmmmm......bacon.... Its been about 6 years since I have eaten bacon. No this does not necessarily mean that I will continue eating it, but who knows.

I have sinned...or have I?

I just created a new version of glow poi. They are similar in shape and function to the OGGZ, except that these are battery operated instead of rechargeable. The cool thing about them is that as the Egg is morphing through its colors, you can hit a button and stop it on the color you like, then hit the button again and it will continue is morphing cycle!

People have always been asking me for a set of glow poi that they can have the option to have it change colors or set it to just one color. So here you people go, http://www.thespinsterz.com/glow_egg.htm

I am not a blogger, i know this, but still i like to share.

Had the second spin jam yesterday in Bend and there was a reporter and photographer from the local paper. This morning I get a text to find out that we are on the front cover! wahoo! They also wrote an article about our the event, but I still need to get my butt out into the foot of fresh snow and pick up a copy.

I feel love just filling my life lately. Just love in general for all people and all things. Love for life, love for food, love for beautiful new friendships.

Just wanting to express my gratitude for life and what it has to offer.

New Fire Poi Styles

The Spinsterz is now offering two more styles of fire poi, Egg Poi and Monkey Fist.

Egg Poi (http://www.thespinsterz.com/eggpoi.htm)

Egg Poi are very similar to the Monkey Fist style, but the Egg Poi have a larger surface area and thus allows for a longer burn time and larger flame.

Monkey Fist Poi (http://www.thespinsterz.com/monkeyfist.htm)

Monkey Fist Poi are made by tying multiple monkey fist knots one inside the other to create a full rope core poi head. Monkey fists are a little more aerodynamic than cathedral heads and provide a longer burn time.

Both these new poi styles are available from The Spinsterz http://www.thespinsterz.com/index.htm

I went cross-country skiing for the first time since I was a little kid. It was lots of fun and so beautiful outside. The sky was perfectly blue, the snow was soft and the river flowing by my side was so peaceful and tranquil. I fell over a few times , but got the hang of it real quick.
