Car-Motorcycle Crash is Longview's 15th Fatality of Year
LONGVIEW — Police continue their investigation into the city’s 15th traffic fatality in 2007 following the death of a 45-year-old Longview man last night.

Longview Police Sgt. Shaun Pendleton said a two-vehicle accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Gilmer Road and Fairmont Street.

“According to the initial accident report, a 1996 Jeep driven by 19-year-old Katharine Faye Crutcher of Ore City was traveling northbound in the left turn lane of Gilmer Road and stated she had a red light, but when she tried to stop prior to turning left, she was unable to do so,” he said.

Pendleton said the jeep then collided with a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Daniel Joseph Gremillion of Longview, traveling southbound in the inside lane of Gilmer Road.

Gremillion was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center and pronounced dead at 8:59 pm.

Ms. Crutcher was not injured in the accident and required no medical treatment.

“As is standard procedure in all fatality accidents, blood samples were collected from both drivers and will be sent off for analysis. The results are pending,” Pendleton said.
