My Testimonials

May 3, 2007
I always think this tribe picture of you in a fluffy coat illuminated in a somewhat fluorescent manner to be - perfect. You said to me a while ago that you may not be as interesting as I think. In fact, the plateaus where I think "all has gone quiet with Bruce" is in fact often a slow quiet path to the next eruption of pure and humourful genius. I totally applaud the way you operate - and appreciate the non-interesting seeming times as the disguises they really are.

I think it is a pure miracle we have found each other and after a somewhat truncated year in and out of each others company it is interesting enough to see where all the many paths of exploration are leading - and to take turns basking in each others reflected brilliance.

Happy anniversary.

Kathy and Bruce are two uterly special giving people. It's been an absolute honor getting to know them, how wonderful life is when you can make such great new friends! Blessed are those whose path crosses hearts with theirs.

The Messiah of the south!

Bruce is an awesome guy and we entrust to him the fires of the south.

Lead them to the fires Bruce.
Show them how they burn.
Show them the spark,
Sow them the flame.
And in the North
We'll do the same.

bruce, in a world of people crowing on about how other people are 'unique' is truly unique. Even in a crowd of 'unique' folks he stands out as unique. Also, he rocked the house out with the f(ph)at orange zip ties.

He is my brother and I love him.

Into the Black Hole

This phrase occurred to me 2 years ago (was it only 2 years ago? wow) when we were wrapping everything up and moving to New Zealand.

It’s like, in a science fiction movie, when the shit hits the fan and they have to do something radical to save their asses—it’s a moment where everyone straps into their seats, and everything shakes a lot. It’s a make or break moment, a moment of ultimate tension, and, except maybe for some steam coming out of pipes and the view on t... read more

The Principle of Positive Feedback , or, Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

OK, in my post about the Meaning of Life, I said that the idea was to =make things happen= in your life. Make it a good story.

Next question: What Sorts of Things Should I Make Happen?

Simple answer: Things that make you feel good.

Why? What? Huh?

When I told a friend about this a while back, he said, chuckling, “uh… NOT! That’s a bad thing, you don’t want to go there man.” This friend was a nice friendly hap... read more

This is not my beautiful house, part III

I was writing a few words the other day for a new zealand curious friend of a friend, and as I went over to tribe to look for a relevant blog post that summed up some key points of my experiences moving here, I noticed that I had written not one, but two earlier posts entitled, This Is Not My Beautiful House.

I found this quite funny, since I had managed to submerge myself into the flow of living on Clyde Rd in Christchurch, appreciating its virt... read more

Kathy recently mentioned to me that a good friend was still trying to figure out "the meaning of life."

This post is for you, good friend :-)

When we look at the phrase, "meaning of life" what do we see?

www.thefreedictionary.com/meaning

“3. An interpreted goal, intent, or end”

Ah hah, here is the trick. Where does that interpretation come from?

From you dear reader!

It is the act=of=interpretation that results in meaning.

When you interpret something, you... read more

illegal distillation? (in The Real Absinthe Tribe) Ari,

People all over the world can read and post on tribe. Some people live in countries where home distillation is legal. Like me.

Re: Antiprism, was: Geodesic cylinder? (in Geodesic Design Group) Yes, all struts the same length.

Though I reckon you could vary the lengths between the vertical and horizontal members a bit and it would be OK. For instance, the strut lengths for two of the three kinds of struts in a 3 frequency dome are pr... read more

Re: Geodesic cylinder? (in Geodesic Design Group) Cheers, Artwit, on the name correction. I was just repeating what it is called in my Tensegritoy manual.

Re: modified 1v (in Geodesic Design Group) I think you have a good plan here Hoco. I have messed around a bit with changing strut lengths from the ideal and never had any problems.

I built a couple of tensegrity octahedrons where one side of the octahedron was about 16 feet and another... read more

Re: Materials for orgone accumulator? (in Orgonite) Hi!

For a classic orgone accumulator that's going to be a super groovy permanent thing, I'd recommend you read James DeMeo's orgone accumulator handbook for materials reccomendations and other general considerations.

Re: Geodesic cylinder? (in Geodesic Design Group) Hey there,

Sorry about the long delay in reply.

There is an simple, strong, excellent cylindrical design if you have a bunch of dome struts lying around, but it is not a geodesic, which is, after all, based on emulating a sphere, not a cylin... read more
