BAGG last night was very nice. It was surprisingly empty for a tribe fiesta night. All the important people were there though. I had on my Rago corselette and the Gio Cuban FFs. I forgot how much I love those. I've been wearing those stupid awful rough Secrets in Lace RHTs that feel like sandpaper. I don't know why I don't just throw them out. Oh yeah, they were expensive and I like having some crappy stockings for events when they might get damaged.

I ended up drinking more than I had planned. I really just need to find a bartender that won't pour so heavy for me. Maybe I should stop tipping. Having had so much alcohol, I managed to mess up my ankle. I'm not sure how, but I was wearing stiletto heels. The only thing that I can think of is when I was walking from the car to the club and I tripped on a crack in the street.

suspicious of men

Having worked in the adult industry for seven years I've become very aware of the gaze of men. I've become very aware of men hitting on me and the fact that people treat me differently if they find me attractive. It's gotten to a point where I am suspicious of men, and that I do my best to ignore them. At the office I'm supposed to be helpful and informative, but I don't want to help men or be nice to them. Yesterday there was a guy in the office who needed a lot of help and kept asking fro information and wanted to stand at the counter and read his papers. He stood there and stared at me too. It was really obnoxious and I did as little as possible to help him. I noticed that he had about half a dozen orchids with him, and after he left I saw that one was placed on a shelf above the computer he had been using. My first thought was that this guy didn't have thee guts to say something to me directly (thank god), but wanted to give me a flower. Am I crazy? Am I totally off in my suspicions? Maybe people just stare because I look like a freak?

Exceptionally more motivated to move today. I freaked out this morning when one of the street people yelled something angry at me. I was wearing headphones so I don't know what was up, but it's really unnerving to have someone outside your home with unknown sanity levels shouting angry things at you. Normally the street people don't bother me because they're doing illegal things and don't want to cause trouble. I know the local dealers and prostitutes and they know me and we all just pretend we didn't see each other. Some of them will talk with me. I like talking to the street people because I like to keep tabs on who is doing what where and who I need to keep an eye on. Today though. Not so good. I felt really vulnerable. It was someone I had never seen before and I hope he moves along and doesn't come back. Then I had to run to catch the bus. By the time I sat down on the bus I had been freaking out about crazy man and then freaking out about missing the bus by an inch. My anxiety went up. This is how I used to live. I was regularly freaking out in the streets and missing the bus by moments. I am so glad that it isn't a regular thing anymore. But back to my point, moving the hell out of here. We need a new photo studio, and I REALLY want to live in the studio. They all are leaning towards Alameda. I actually rather like West O. Lash wants San Francisco. Realistically, we're going to need to take what's affordable.

The Pleasure Principle at Catalyst Cocktails

Just got back home. Vincent wanted to get out, and I wasn't opposed to going out to a club, so he picked out The Pleasure Principle at Catalyst Cocktails. Except that it isn't actually a club night so much as a few DJs in the back of a bar. It's a nice bar, with tasty drinks. And by tasty I mean YUM rather than just being strong. However the "dancefloor" holds exactly four people dancing and two standing around talking, and the music was B-sides of all the 80's synthpop you don't remember. There were crates of real live vinyl records that they were DJing with! I don't remember the last time I saw DJs hauling around crates of vinyl. And there was 30% more chicks in ugly pants! (numbers of guys in ugly pants at clubs is always incalculable). Really though, it wasn't THAT bad. The DJs were pretty good, and the company was good, and Tony was there, but I still had the urge to pull out my spandex and snort cocaine. I'd go back if more of my club friends would go with me. (spandex ok, but don't bring cocaine) A woman there was having her 40th birthday, and she wanted to hear 80's music. That means she's been listening to the same music for 20 years. It's like people that go to 1984 for New Years, but at least you don't have to pay good money to stand around in the armpit they call Cat Club.

I'm on Lash's health insurance because his is really superfuckingfantastic. Today I receive a letter in the mail addressed to my first name his last name. At first I was confused as to whether it was for him or me, and then I got it. They think we're married and that I have his last name! hahahahaha!! Actually it sort of pisses me off. Even if we were married it's a pretty archaic patriarchal assumption that the woman always takes the man's last name. I don't know where they got the idea that I might be using his last name, other than sheer lack of noticing the obvious. I'm clearly using my own last name and have been for the entire six years that I've been on his insurance. They have my name correct on my insurance card. What's wrong with these people?

I have been dealing with migraines since I was a teen and insomnia since about 1999. Last night I had a migraine, a rather medium strength one, so I went to bed early. I still had it when I woke up at 7:30. Called in sick to the office and went back to bed. I slept so well and so deeply. In fact I feel asleep last night faster than usual and I didn't need sleeping pills. I had all sorts of crazy dreams during my 4 hour nap this morning. Crazy sex dreams.

I don't know if anyone else on earth has the migraines and insomnia that I do, but it seems like the migraines fix the insomnia. I need to ask the doctor if I'm crazy or if there really is a connection.

Also, I'm finally able to make quicktime videos for the websites! Yay! I'll post a link for free samples later today.

I went out to see the Olympic torch today and all I got was a sore back. So far I don't seems to have sunburn.

There were all sorts of people being jackasses, people of all colors and nationalities. I ended up standing with a Chinese group and they were booing at the Tibet protesters. Then a couple of white guys and Chinese guys were shouting at each other about something or other. An American brown skinned guy was telling old Chinese ladies that they were evil. Very effective protesting methods. I'm sure the Chinese government is going to back down now.

The protesters for Sudan, Vietname and Burma were all pretty quiet. The group carrying the Dalai Lama's picture had a police escort. It was really cool to see all the different types of traditional ethnic clothing.

And apparently the alternate route that took them up Van Ness to the Golden Gate bridge was an alternate route all along.

Oh yeah and people took my picture because I have orange hair, and I was interviewed for German tv. I didn't have much to say other than " I just want to see the torch"

DG tonight? Plus other stuff

While my computer was down again over the weekend I worked on sewing. It turns out that my registry was damaged when I installed my video editing software on the C drive. I have it installed on the extra drive now.

I had been working on this vintage Guatemalan skirt that I was given by a Guatemalan friend when his mother died. The skirt was huge on me so I decided to cut it down by three inches. The fabric, being handwoven and vintage, was very delicate, so trying to tear apart the seams resulting in tearing the fabric in several places. The waist band was particularly difficult. This skirt had been sitting on top of my to do pile for so long, and I finally had the time to finish. I now feel awesome. It is such an amazing skirt too. The fabric is really windproof, and it is perfectly shaped for unrestricted movement and sitting on the floor without showing off the undies. Those practical Guatemalans!

I'm thinking of going to DG tonight, unless potential other plans go through.

I'm really shocked by some of the racist and sexist things that come out of the mouths of the guys at work. It really makes it difficult to work with them sometimes. I've been sticking around for the extra money, but it really isn't worth it. The other day one of the guys made a really bad double entendre that I don't think he meant to make, but that's how it came out and he apologized. I still felt like puking. And then being forced to serve the public? Not so fun. I like working with people, but I want to be selective about who I work with. It all just wears me down. I want out. I want out of that job and out of this house and to just get myself where i want to be going.

I have been having problems finding just plain low or no heel shoes for work. I've been struggling with this for months and I honestly don't have the time and energy to have this many problems with just plain shoes.

Well over the weekend I ended up at this random thrift store and found a pair of liz claiborne shoes with a very low heel in my size. They only fit if I wear nylons, not socks. They were 4.99 and they'll do just fine. I hope.

I've decided to not spend any more money on buying clothes. I am forcing myself to make do with what I have or get off my lazy ass and take stuff to Buffalo Exchange. I keep thinking that I NEED more pants or shirts or shoes or club clothes or whatever, but I really don't. I've been having money problems, so I need to stop thinking about buying stuff. I don't even want to let myself look. I need to need less and make do with what I have. I really do have enough stuff to clothe a small African village. I want to be able to buy property one day, so I really need to get in teh habit of saving now.

I vaguely remember something about how the upstairs neighbors do screen printing or some sort of printmaking. There are frequently strange noises. It is always a rhythmic sound. Sometimes with a metallic spring noise. Sometimes they're also yelling at each other. It could all very well be some sort of printmaking equipment, considering how frequently it happens and the duration of the noise. And then they yell and fight about their printmaking? Sometimes I just her the theoretical printmaking noises and no fighting. Really though, WTF is going on up there?

Study cites health risk to West Oakland residents
By Denis Cuff
West Oakland residents face an elevated risk of getting cancer because of diesel exhaust from trucks, ships, trains and other sources, according to a study released Wednesday.

The extra risk of getting cancer is 1,180 in a million for lifelong West Oakland residents, the California Air Resources Board said in its health risk assessment.

The study examined all diesel sources, including the Port of Oakland, freeways and a Union Pacific railroad line.

In comparison, the risk of getting cancer in the general population is about 200,000 to 250,000 in a million.

So I talked with Bill's Kitchen and Teriyaki and they are very laid back and casual about things, so I think this might be a good deal for us. If all goes well on Wednesday this will be our new munch restaurant. I'm not going crazy promoting this month, but feel free to spread the word.
