3rd Place @ Karate Tournament
(blog entry)
For a couple of months I took off training in Karate and going to the gym because my car died. I had to take public transportation everywhere and going to Karate and the gym was a little hard. I still went to brazillian jiu jitsu practice though...

Sex Positive and Feminism
(blog entry)
One of the points that stood out to me especially was that despite the fact that Nina Hartley identifies with being a feminist she did seem to be skeptical of some of feminisms beliefs and actually said that some of the beliefs exposed by feminist...

Nina Hartley @ Museum of Sex NYC
(blog entry)
Yesterday I left work early so that I could attend Nina Hartleys book lecture and book signing. It was a good thing that I left extra early: there must have been at least a 30 minute delay arriving at Penn Station due to smoke in the tunnels. Si...

Back in mid August I took a trip down to Chicago to attend a seminar by the current UFC Welter Weight Champ Matt Hughes. This was less than a month after trying out for the US Team. While I was still probably nursing wounds from Nationals (my ri...

Matt Hughes Seminar
(blog entry)
I have been doing BJJ for almost a month now and have gotten together with the local grappling crew out on in Valley Stream. I have lost around 20 lbs from the beginning of the summer (mostly body fat). I have hit the weights and have become a l...

For a couple of months I took off training in Karate and going to the gym because my car died. I had to take public transportation everywhere and going to Karate and the gym was a little hard. I still went to brazillian jiu jitsu practice though. I decided to do the tournament to see how good my skill was since I want to go to nationals again.
This Sunday I participated in a local traditional karate tournament in Queens. I fought in the men's 18-34 advanced (black belt) kumite division...

One of the points that stood out to me especially was that despite the fact that Nina Hartley identifies with being a feminist she did seem to be skeptical of some of feminisms beliefs and actually said that some of the beliefs exposed by feminists are based on some peoples hang ups. While I would have to admit that I am pretty skeptical of some assumptions of feminism (particularly those that tend to paint women as perpectual victems, men as abuser, power, etc). At times when feminist theo...

Yesterday I left work early so that I could attend Nina Hartleys book lecture and book signing. It was a good thing that I left extra early: there must have been at least a 30 minute delay arriving at Penn Station due to smoke in the tunnels. Since I planned ahead I was able to get there way ahead of time.
Like every most of the ticket holders who arrived early I was herded into the Museum of Sex store. I was also made to check my messenger bag because it was too big. In the shop I...

Back in mid August I took a trip down to Chicago to attend a seminar by the current UFC Welter Weight Champ Matt Hughes. This was less than a month after trying out for the US Team. While I was still probably nursing wounds from Nationals (my right foot was still a little swollen) I was in great shape. My endurance was high, body fat low and I had just started lifting weights again. With only about of month of BJJ under my I was able to understand what I was able to hang.
The seminar...

I have been doing BJJ for almost a month now and have gotten together with the local grappling crew out on in Valley Stream. I have lost around 20 lbs from the beginning of the summer (mostly body fat). I have hit the weights and have become a little explosive. Heck I am getting pretty ripped right now. So I guess I am ready for Hughes seminar in Chicago.
From what I have seen from the "The Ultimate Fighter" show, Hughes seems to be a very intense trainer. Though I doubt that it wi...
