My Testimonials

December 20, 2004
Uri is an anomaly in the greatest sense of the word - He is one of the very few people with whom I feel inspired to communicate with; more specifically, because of his sheer intellect, he challenges me to think on a higher level. More importantly, he looks fantastic in a dress.

sometimes it seems that all Uri's friends are girls. then i realize that it's just that every woman seems to want to get in his pants.

or maybe it's because he's such a genuine "nice guy" and "good listener". He's one of those special ones that most women are too blind to realize they should be DATING rather than just CONFIDING IN. (wow that was a complex sentence!)

oh yeah, and he's good with that linguistics thing.

2 major political victories (blog entry) had one of my better days today. in the morning about 80 students showed up to protest the board of trustees. we interrupted their mutual-ass-kiss-fest long enough to embarrass them in front of the media. most of the credit goes to our student tru... read more

( miscellaneous » movie reviews ) "i'm obsessed with this film" it's a tim robbins movie about the production of marc blitzstein/orson welles pro-labor musical "cradle will rock" in the 1930's. the show get cancelled by the house unamerican activities committee and the federal government sends armed guards to ... read more

truth vs. truth (blog entry) this is from gush shalom's website.

i disagree with a lot of it, but it has the virtue of focusing on the significance of national narratives. edward said's "the question of palestine" remains the best articulation of this issue, but gush shalo... read more

what rolls downstairs, alone or in pairs

had one of my better days today. in the morning about 80 students showed up to protest the board of trustees. we interrupted their mutual-ass-kiss-fest long enough to embarrass them in front of the media. most of the credit goes to our student trustee valerie, who used her trustee's report to slam the them over the university's atrocious record on diversity. as a result, they're willing to talk to us - something we never achieved by doing things "properly".

then in the evening, the undergr... read more

i got my LSAT score - 168. not as good as i can do, but definitely good enough to get me into northeastern, which is where i'm leaning. also good enough to get me an application fee waiver at william and mary, so i'll be applying there too. maybe western new england too, as a safety. and both CUNY and suffolk have been recommended as schools with good public interest programs.

i'm sitting in on an arabic class at smith college this semester. actually, this year. that'... read more

went to a party at ilaria's last night. got pretty dressed up in my incredibly tight shiny silver vinyl pants and a glittery silver shirt. (photo: me wearing the same outfit, plus stupid glasses, and posing with ila, at a different party). the pants drew many inappropriate remarks from gentlemen, but they also drew many inappropriate feel-ups from ladies, so it kind of evened out. met a prima facie interesting girl but didn't really connect. i'll check out her musical performance on wednesday... read more

(photo: hank azaria as marc blitzstein, from the tim robbins movie "cradle will rock")

my main accomplishment yesterday was to sit down and figure out nearly all the lyrics to "cradle will rock" (from the blitzstein musical of the same name) from listening to the song repeatedly. google was pretty unhelpful. here tis:

up on the topmost bough
of the [?olive?] tree now
like bees in their hives
the lords and their lackeys and wives
are singing rockabye baby in a nice big cradle

and ... read more
