my main accomplishment yesterday was to sit down and figure out nearly all the lyrics to "cradle will rock" (from the blitzstein musical of the same name) from listening to the song repeatedly. google was pretty unhelpful. here tis:

up on the topmost bough
of the [?olive?] tree now
like bees in their hives
the lords and their lackeys and wives
are singing rockabye baby in a nice big cradle

and they remark the air is chilly up there
the sky [?be too brown?]
can that be the cloud over there
and then they put up their hands and feel stormy weather

the baby ups and cries, "boys this looks bad"
you haven't used your eyes, you'll wish you had

that's thunder, that's lightning and it's gonna surround you
no wonder those stormbirds seem to circle around you
when you can't climb down and you can't sit still
that's a storm that's gonna last until
the final wind blows, and when the wind blows
the cradle will rock!

that's thunder, that's lightning, and it's gonna surround you
no wonder those stormbirds seem to circle around you

well you can't climb down and you can't say no
you can't stop the weather, not with all your dough
for when the wind blows
and when the wind blows
the cradle will rock!

the cradle will rock!
