Food for thought...

"As long as humanity continues to be the ruthless destroyer of other beings, we will never know health or peace. For as long as people massacre animals they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love." --Pythagoras

about me
Vegan! I love living veg, it's the best thing I've ever done. A plant-based lifestyle cuts out all the static and allows me to commune with Nature on a deeper level. I'm all about educating and raising awareness about political, environmental, and animal rights issues; education is the first step towards social change!
I've passed through the fire and come out the other side, stronger, happier and ready for the next test! A dream on the night of the Summer Solstice brought me to Portland, and so far I love it. My wandering soul has found a place to rest for awhile.
I can never be surrounded by too much peace, love and beauty...I strive to always speak and live my Truth, to move with the cycles of the earth, and to never betray my Power. And I am indelibly drawn to the beat of the drum; the first sound, there at the beginning of our Consciousness.

Moira Hippolyta has a warrior spirit!! Active and bright eyed and eating her food so fast I'm not even sure she chews it! Works for me, because she needs to gain back the weight she lost at the shelter and while she was sick. It does my heart good to see her eat. She is absolutely fearless, and will crawl up the side of anything she can get her claws into; my plans to build ramps are going out the window, she doesn't need them. A few adjustments in the height of my bed, and a step by t... read more

Moira is still sick (of course). She is much more active today, but when the vet called to check on everybody, she said that Moira is not eating enough. Yikes. Like I need that again. AND my friend who helped me nurse Rowan and who has an incredible knack for getting stubborn cats to eat is out of town. Crap. I could be obsessing, I could be paranoid, I could be a worried mama who can't get the vision of a dead Rowan lying on the bathroom floor out of my head. For the first time in m... read more

I might be crazy BUT on Thursday a kitten died from an upper respiratory infection in my bathroom; Friday I adopted a crippled kitten with an upper respiratory infection from the same shelter. She has a congenital deformity of her back legs and leaf-green eyes. When they aren't watery, that is. She was brought into the shelter as a stray. This five month old kitten survived on the streets of Portland alone with minimal function of two of her limbs. She's curious and playful, and tries t... read more
