Operation eMac Autopsy & Organ Donation
Sadly, my little experiment has been put on hold as I need a metric sized hex screwdriver & I only have...wait what is it called? Imperial? US Customary? Apparently I REALLY want to get inside this computer as I just bought said screwdriver on ebay. At the very least there has got to be cool-looking salvageable circuit board in there. I think if I make an aquarium out of the shell it would have to be upside down as the only opening is on the bottom.The brainstorming continues...
Creative ideas needed!
So my old eMac died months ago & is unsalvageable. I find it to be so esthetically pleasing that I'm thinking I should make something cool out of it, but what? I thought of making an aquarium out of it, though it would be pretty dark in there. I dunno, any ideas?DC rocks (raqs?)
I was reminded last night of how great the DC tribal dance scene is. There are so many really cool & very nice people & it's a very close-knit community. I don't think it's like that in other places quite to the same extent. Sure, I see certain cities where studios of people are really close (I love how close the Hot Pot crowd seems to be), but in a pan-scenic (is that even a word?) kind of way, I really have to hand it to DC. People all hang out together outside of dance events. I don't see a lot of cattiness. I see a lot of support. But then again, I guess I'm not entrenched in the professional side of it enough to really say that but it seems to be the case from my perspective.I'm so glad I made the move here. Sure, I'm paying through the nose for rent but I've been able to really get involved in dance here in a way I wasn't really able to in Baltimore. I'm 10 minutes from my classes with Asharah, I've been able to start taking ATS classes (of which there were none in B'more when I lived there), I've been able to start performing more due to the copious number of venues where people of my level are able to test out the waters, and most of all, I'm close to friends. I've finally been able to find enough cello students here that the possibility of quitting my &%#!* godforsaken restaurant job is within close grasp.
So, go DC (Manhattan-sized rents, LA-style traffic & all)!

I have done the math & figured out that I need only to teach for 10 more hours per week to be able to quit my job & stay at my current income level. Just got hired at a music school that is run like a little conservatory (juries, theory classes etc in addition to private lessons) and seems to have quite the student base, so I think this will be possible within the next couple of months! The teachers already working there teach way more than 10 hours per week so, in addition to the 7 students I already have (possibly 2 more this week) I'm sure this is doable.*plugs nose & jumps in*
Belated 4th
I had very bad luck photographing the fireworks despite my great vantage point, partly due to the fact that a cloud of smoke was drifting our way, obscuring the view of the fireworks. Most of the shots just kind of looked like DC was being bombed.I love me some fireworks.

Rollercoasters!!!
Wheee, I'm so excited. Going to King's Dominion tomorrow! Roller coasters are seriously my favorite thing in the world, I think. So much fun. I'm super disappointed that they got rid of the best one EVER, the XLC Extreme Launch Coaster. Bad decision. I see a road trip to Cedar Point in Ohio (home of several of what are supposed to be the world's best coasters) sometime.A HA!
I bought some wheat-free crackers the other day & they sucked. They were the texture of communion wafers. But today I bought some spelt crackers & OMG they're GOOD! Along with it, I'm enjoying brie & some cheese with truffles in it. Mmm.... decadence.Oh no you didn't
