about me
I am what I am, not what you want me to be (and not what I want me to be either)...and I'm the same as you. It's hard to see, in this little corner of cyber space, we both have some words, some images, to attempt to paint a picture of...a PERSON!!!!! Someone who is more, not less, the same as you. Equally to be loved, equally a coming buddha (thanks Kerouac), equally a pain in the ass....
Blessing's on you all:)

From my buddy Rumi

"In every instant there’s dying and coming back around. Muhammad said, This world is a moment, a pouring that refreshes and renews itself so rapidly it seems continuous, as a burning stick taken from the fire looks like a golden wire when you swirl it in the air, so we feel duration as a string of sparks"

Meditating upon the fact that I could die RIGHT NOW leads me to write this note; which is all about the things that bring me joy, right here in Korea. This very act brings me joy, because it makes me aware of how happy I am to be here now (thanks Ram Das). Which is a good and rather novel thing....while I have loved my racing around hectic traveling life, I have always been looking one step ahead to the next project. Here I have moments when I'm really truely 'here' and this makes me a joyful... read more

I took this note from bitchphd.blogspot.com/ (my new favourite procrastination tool) because it struck a cord (I'm not sure if it was an F or a G...) with me and I want to share it with all those people who are presently sitting at their desks....

"I have always sucked at meditation. But the following paragraph finally helped me "get" it, and it's a fabulous, fabulous exercise. I found it on the back page of The Sun, which is a magazine that skews quite a bit crunchier than I usual... read more

Early this morning i was biking home from yoga when i saw a man trying to steal a womans handbag; he was pulling, she was pulling; so i yahhed (thats Korean for 'WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!! STOP!!!) and shouted and he let go of it...

Go me!!!

The woman walked away for about 10 paces, rather slowly, almost reluctantly...and then let him catch up...they started tussling again. I yahhed at them again...and then she did the whole 'i'm beating you up with little fairy punches" thing (to ... read more

im reading Bitch Ph.D on blogsppot bitchphd.blogspot.com/2007_11...ive.html

its a quality post written by an articulate feminist and is good for getting thoughtfully mad about the world (I found it from a link of jess's blog)...

I was reading it yesterday and this probably contributed to my pissed off 'i'm an oppressed woman' mood...

This pissed off mood enacted the laws of the universe whereby you attract the very things that piss you off....

Last night, when i was... read more

Today is a day off from school for me. The high school kids in the region are sitting university entrance exams and in order to minimise cheating they are all sitting them in places that are not their schools. As a result, both of ''my'' middle schools have been commandeered as exam sites. This means all the middle schoolers have a day off, and I do too. So i'm going to use some of this time off to catch up with myself. I've been at least a week behind for about the last month (I know this be... read more

Coming back from
morning yoga
it's 7am
the day is waking

I turn my bike into
the Buyong apartment complex
where I live
and see an old women

hurrying out
the front entrance
hunched back
head bowed

her face is
hidden by
a traditional Korean
plastic visor

She is carrying a scythe
sharp and foreboding
bearing her scythe
scurrying from the waking day

She
could be
a little old
grim reaper.

When death comes
if I'm greeted by
an old ajjuma
I will at ... read more

In the school office
where I'm now sitting
a girl is being lectured.

She had a plaster under her eye,
a tight short plaid skirt
grey stockings
and big permed hair.

The vice principle has been talking
at her
for the past 15 minutes
calmly lecturing her
on
and on
and on.

Now it's the discipline teachers turn
and he is a little grumpier
but still calm.
Lecturing on
and on
and on.

She has her eyes down.

She is dismissed
leaves
head down.

There is quiet... read more

"Put your hands up in the air" D.Jesus

Wando woman Melisa captured this statue which stands by the Catholic Church opposite her apartment. It's such a Wando wonder. (Note: when you beckon someone over in Korea, you face your palms down...like Jesus).

This music video makes me think about..

Whether or not God is going to cut us down, the cult of celebrity, redemption, salvation, do it your self theology, life, death, Christian iconography, how we are all the common people, conflict of faith and fatalism and what a great voice JC has.
