Okay, this was so stinking fun!!! Just got back from Christmas with Mom. Unfortunately for both of us, within hours of me arriving I fell ill with that nasty ass plague that has been going around. So there were a lot of tissues and "oh poor babies" which is just a lovely change of pace vs. living alone in manhattan. Mom is cool, such a crazy lady. (She tells me crazy is much more interesting than sane.) Wish she were closer! (p.s. Yes, I made a menorah christmas cookie. I just felt it had to be done.)

this picture for example, this picture makes me smile. first b/c it has several of my good friends in it and we were about to go to another good friend's wedding and we were all in a great mood. Also, because Jamey has a shirt on that says "Optimists eat babies" and Duncan is giving the "shocker". This is the part that amuses me. Because for the rest of my life I could have looked at this picture and not realized that that hand gesture meant anything. But now I know. And it makes me so happy to learn that in all my cynical, early-thirties melange of experiences I can still learn something new. Oh yeah, and its a pretty funny picture.

as a result of small planes crashing into buildings in manhattan, the debate has begun for a law banning small places flying over the city...

the part that bothers me the most about the seemingly sensical suggestion of banning small flights over the city, is not what position i may take on the particular matter but the creation of and repeated demonstration of the need for another law. the complex web of rules and regulations that we create as knee-jerk reactions to enforce "society" for people who appear incapable of existing in such a "society". If we think of the laws in place today - walking between subway cars; sarbanes-oxley act for business; homeland security; traffic lights - all things that were created for someone's good intentions (we optimistically hope) that have varying degrees of positive and negative impact on our society. These rules which arguably create an environment which makes it more difficult and unreasonable for a person to live within the stated boundaries and creates a culture which does not have to think of its actions, just follow the posted signs...

was there last weekend to see my amazing friend bex and several other amazing friends that i just met recently. as it normal for me, i spent a great deal of time wandering around in my own head, im such a loner! and i forgot my camera, so i have no pics! blah

first time new york visit

my friend from high school had her first trip to NYC ever this weekend! We had a blast! I'm so glad she came. We went to a concert in central park (CYHSY pic attached); went shopping, ate amazing food all over town, walked across the brooklyn bridge and then found Grimaldi's under the bridge on our own; went to times square, ground zero and rockefeller plaza. I really love it when people come to visit NY, b/c I get to play all the touristy stuff you never do in your own city.

okay, so my friend bailed on me tonight. so i'm getting some quality kitty time instead of being out partying. eh, it happens. plus, with the new kitty this is probably not a bad thing at all! they are getting along so well! I can't believe how easy this is! Here's a pic of them playing!

okay, so i've been looking to get a little sister for bailey for months now. there's a stray cat assistance program that i've been working with since the spring. today i picked up my new baby. she's camped out in the bathroom, cause she and bailey have to learn to love each other through the bathroom door first (oh, and she needs to go to my vet to get all checked out). i've attached some pics. she needs a name, but i need to figure out her personality first. what i know so far, she's 8 weeks, purrs loudly, all black (fur is a little red b/c she nearly starved to death) and was found at JFK airport.

okay, so it took me a day to figure out how to turn on the shower and remember to drain the tub! I forgot to look for highway exit signs (three times in a row), but now i am hiding in my apartment - trying not to work and babying my kitty who got a cold while I was gone! welcome home rae... missing the playa!

bailey's trip to the vet

took big fatty kitty to vet today - who charged me $500 to run all these diabetes tests b/c someone now weighs 16 pounds and is officially "obese". great job bailey. the dude is sneaking in food I'm sure of it. I only feed him a half a cup of diet food a day! sounds like about what one of my girlfriends eats... mmmmm......

its sunday night and i have been hiding in my apartment all weekend. I've been on vacation in SF (and tahoo and the playa) for a week and a half and I just wanted to hang with the kitty. a pic of his big belly is attached! I really don't want to go to work tomorrow... anyone have a couple million dollars that I can retire with?
