9/11 Poem Crashing towers of steel and hopes and dreams and so so so so so sad. The tears of thousands, The tears of children, The fruits of violence and hate twisting metal like toys, Fire burning like some ancient hell and so so so so so sad. Crying for days and days afterward. In New Brunswick, NJ, waiting for a train. The man next to me stares straight ahead. Without looking up he says, "I've been to 40 funerals in the last two months." There is silence in the train station waiting room. Everyone knows what he means.
