Psychedelic Pop!!
I have been listening to a lot of psychedelic pop lately and thought I'd share some of the tunes I have been listening to. I compresses this mix cd into WinRAR form, which I have never done before, so hopefully I did it right. If you have any problems downloading or extracting let me know!Enjoy!! 1. I was raised by a single mom, and she is the most important person in my life. She is the most beautiful person I know and she cares for people so much. She raised three boys on her own, and i know we were never easy on her.
2. I am an Americana music junkie!!! Everybody from Gram Parsons to Bill Monroe to the Carter Family to Uncle Tupelo to Son Volt to early Wilco to the Jayhawks to Victoria Williams to the Creekdippers. I love music with a bit of twang, not to much twang, just enough. I have been to several Twangfests in St. louis, MO.
3. I love to read. Mostly beat writers, but i also love thomas wolfe and mark twain. I love american and irish history books as well. Kerouac, Ginsberg, Bukowski, Kesey, Wolfe(tom and thomas), HST, Terkel, Dr. D. Brinkley....
4. I was raised in St. louis, MO. The gateway to the west!! St. louis was an incredible place to be young. Bopping through the loop with friends, drinking fresh budweiser and bluegrass wednesdays at the cabin inn! And the now closed frederick's music lounge, now closed

5. I have seen Chuck Berry over 20 times. Living in St. louis, chuck berry plays in the Duck room at Blueberry Hill once a month! If you're ever in STL, try and see chuck berry, a true American poet!
6. Before becoming Dan from NC, I was Dan from KC. I miss Kansas City. I miss living a block away from Spivey's Bookshop and a short drive to Davey's Uptown: Rambler's Club. Hanging out with amazing local writers, David Ohle and Thomas Fox Averil, both of whom were Kaw Valley hemp pickers and key figure of the counter culture scene in Lawrence, KS.
7. My favorite road trips have always been with my brother Mark. From long drives to Auburn, AL to short little trips to see Yonder at a hot air balloon festival in Danville, IL. Or even those little daytrips out old Highway T to Washington, MO. Hiking to Mt. Taum Sauk and train rides to Chicago for the first Kinfolk celebration.
8. My hero Is a musician, a writer, a storyteller and a riverboat pilot

Where to begin...I've been out west for just over two months and it already feels like an eternity. I am so incredibly happy with where my life is at and all the incredible people that have come into my life since I stepped off the plane.
From Boblink to High Sierra, I feel like I have made some very true very deep connections with so many amazing people, many of them tribe folk!! I love you all soo much and am so thankful for all of the love ive been given..

The wilco show was great last night and their cover of "airline to heaven," by woody guthrie was the highlight for me!! I thought of all the great people we lost this year. I thought of all the people that we lost, that I never met. From the opening chords, it was just a good ol' sing-a-long to the heavens. It felt like the band was carrying all the weight and burdens of the world on their back, and they were singing all our troubles away!
I am so thankful for all of the amazing people that have come into my life!! From all of my old friends, to all my new friends, and to many of you tribe-dwellers. I feel so blessed to have met the many of you that I have, you are all an amazing group of people, KEEP YOUR SPIRIT BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I am soo overjoyed that I am heading out across the plains to the mountains to see BTS!!! I can't wait to thank the boys for the amazing music and experiences they have already given me!!

Wilco descends on the city at 9:00 tonight, and though I am not a huge fan of Wilco anymore, I am really excited!!! I am a huge fan of early wilco; a.m., being there and summerteeth are three amazing albums. Joe and his special lady friend are coming in for the show tonight and I am stoked to see them!!I have been getting stoked hardcore on the new BTS discs that I just got from sam! They are all so gouda, especially that show from Bend, OR.
I'll shoot out an update about the show later.

Oh how good it is to be alive!!! Today marks the first day of spring, but winter is putting up a fight here in ol' Kansas City. But, life is good in KC. Today I received the most amazing package from Samsalila!!! Lots of Blue Turtle Seduction to soothe the soul! I have been dancing all over the place all day, sporting my panda shades, just dorking out BIG TIME!Tomorrow is the long awaited Wilco show at the Uptown, I got a few friends coming in town for it, which should be a great time!! The Uptown is a beautiful theatre right up the street from my apartment!! It will be a cold walk though.
Also, all you cats in the KC area, come out to the bottleneck in lawrence this friday for the Kirk Rundstrom Benefit Concert and Silent Auction!! (Kirk Rundstrom is the guitarist for Split Lip Rayfield and Grain&Demise. Kirk was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Kirk is an amazing musician and person, one of the nicest guys around!!!)
