My Life's Passions

Saturday my friend Will came over and we checked all my little girls' homes and then pulled out the extra honey to bottle up... it took about 4 hours and for the most part my girls were pretty calm

I called my friend James who is my bee mentor and we will be extracting the honey from my honeys' hives in the next 4 weeks ~ could be in time to share with my friends on playa! YUM YUM!
My little girls are just hummin' along ~ happy & healthy ~ and I am so glad that I took on this "challenge" to myself to do something for the bee population and for our environment...

These are my honey bees' homes ~ and I'm busy making more "foundation" for them to make comb on... almost done ~ had to make 60 of them and smashed my thumb last week ~ MAN, the learning curve on this has been brutal!

It's becoming very evident that we need to start paying attention to the earth's needs over our own ~ and making changes in our lives and becoming more thoughtful to the impact that we are having on this world.

Even small changes help ~ taking your own bag into the grocery store, buying in bulk, buying organic food, eatting less meat, consolidating your driving , carpooling with friends to events, driving at 55mph instead of 70mph, conserving water, eliminating junk mail, solar power, living in the now, learning to reconnect with nature, recycling... there are so many ways :-)

I'm creating a garden on my property, maintaining my fruit trees, have 3 bee hives (save the bees!), creating a safe and wonderful home for birds, butterflies, bees, and the 3 1/2 foot garden snake that lives in my orchard.
