Some changes

'Theme in Yellow'

I spot the hills
With yellow balls in autumn.
I light the prairie cornfields
Orange and tawny gold clusters
And I am called pumpkins.
On the last of October
When dusk is fallen
Children join hands
And circle round me
Singing ghost songs
And love to the harvest moon;
I am a jack-o'-lantern
With terrible teeth
And the children know
I am fooling.

Fall does not technically start until the 22nd, but I couldn't help but offer it an early greeting with this lovely poem that I found. It is my favorite time of year, and I am always excited when it finally comes around again.

'With the Flaming Shades of Fall'

Colors burst in wild explosions
Fiery, flaming shades of fall
All in accord with my pounding heart
Behold the autumn-weaver
In bronze and yellow dying
Colors unfold into dreams
In hordes of a thousand and one
The bleeding

It isn't fair. The weather is gloomy and damp and over cast, and it feels so much like Fall right now it's unreal. I feel like I should get out all of my Halloween decorations (oh, wait...some of those still aren't put away from last Halloween!). They said we made the record for the most rainfall on the first of May, and it still hasn't stopped. It's been chilly in the house, and we are using our heaters again after putting them away to make way for house fans. Summer has been temporarily pus... read more

He trembles in the bitter wind
Until it's time for us to speak
Whilst others here are sleeping sound
I'll slip away by floorboard creak
Upon the hill he'll hear my secrets
Shock the colours to bleach inside
Whilst others there are sleeping sound
Just we two will confide

Listen to his body moan
Make a wish and send us home
To spin the gold and silver stitches
We can turn his rags to riches

With frosty Jack on fingernail
Thro' shoe black smile he'll tell-a-tale
Come whisper th... read more

about me
I've been out of the dance loop for some time, but am intent on getting back into it even more so than I was before. I had the privilege of dancing with several wonderful teachers while residing in the Bay Area--most notably, Sandra Troutman, and Malia DeFelice. I performed for a short time with both teachers, and was invited to join Malia's dance troupe, New Moon Rising BellyDance Ensemble. This was a wonderful experience for me, and I greatly enjoyed being part of a troupe and dancing with other dancers. It also gave me a taste of the "performing bug", and I am anxious to do it again! My dream is to once again become part of a troupe, and have the time of my life dancing with others who share my love and passion for the dance. My training thus far has been in Cabaret, Egyptian, and some folkloric styles of the dance. While I love these styles, I also have a strong interest in learning Tribal Fusion, and I recently started taking classes with Bo, a very sweet teacher in the Sacramento area. I look forward to learning from as many different teachers as I possibly can!
