James age three:

Dear Santa,

I would like:
1. Toy Alligator so I'll have two
2. Yellow Drum
3. White bear named Jim
4. Hippo Named Mrs. De Jong
5. Mommy giraffe

You can come down the chimney. Put the toys in my room. I'll have squash and juice for you and reindeer food and water for the reindeer.

Dear Santa,

Please bring me a toy alligator that walks and talks with a key to wind him up, and a dune buggy with spikes on the wheels.
Bring Daddy something - you always do; Mommy would like to eat at Sizzlers, and my sister a dress.
Just use the chimney and leave the presents under the tree.
I'll leave you cookies - every kind, and cookies for the reindeer.
I also want to know why do you live at the North Pole?

It should be noted that these were obviously dictated to an educator of some description as I certainly did not have such a grasp of capitalization at this point. I hope that Santa enjoyed the squash, and that he figured out which of my two sisters I was referring to.
