I literally had the most amazing fire dancing experience, and I wanted to share it with y'all. We had a huge family reuinion last night, cousins and aunties and uncles galore, and I fire danced for everyone. I wanted a way to connect to all my relatives and share how I live my life and have them understand the artistic expression and adventure that is me. Before I danced, people were a bit reserved in talking to me and even judgemental, but afterwards, everyone just opened up to me! It was really amazing-- I found myself in conversations about politics and religion and philosophy and traveling and the importance of artistic expression for everyone.

One of my cousins asked me what was my message in my fire dancing because he saw something, and I told him that I wanted to bring to people the ability to think as an individual, make choices from their heart, and artistically express whatever is going on inside. It feels so incredible to share this reality with people who live in a country and society where they strictly follow the catholic religion and the rules of family, and to break from it is very challenging. Anyways, I could go on and on, but it was the most powerful experience I've ever had with fire.

What I learned from last night was this--

As fire dancers we hold very powerful tools in our hands, and people will listen to us...so what do we have to say?
