about me
I've been dancing for more than 13(!) years. (Gee, time flies when you are having fun!) Primarily Raks Sharki, and Egyptian folklorique, with a smattering of other nifty stuff thrown in for interest.

December has come and gone, the holidays were mellow and very enjoyably relaxing. We didn't have the money to go home again this year, but to tell you the truth we've gotten used to it just being the two of us for the holidays - makes for a much more calm holiday. :0) I received very crafty things this year for xmas and my birthday, very much looking forward to somehow working things from all three gifts into new dance costumes. Like I really need more. :0)
Been eyeing up the stacks of fa...

Time for an update again.
October was busy with preparation for a Steampunk themed party and show on Nov 1 - we managed to do all original content, and costumes in the matter of a month and a half *again*. Remind us to stop doing that - it adds a lot of white hairs to my head and really does nothing good for our stress levels. :0)
The party was great, I had to print extra tickets to cover all the interest, and almost everyone came dressed for the part - it was fantastic!
Performances...

What with the instability of Tribe as of late, I haven't posted much even though things have been happening. I figured I'd at least let everyone know I'm still alive and breathing up here. :0)
Lessee, short form:
Quit the old school in the spring and haven't looked back. Still searching for suitable space for us to work out of - we have a free (!) spot at the moment, but we can't put up mirrors and tend to get shuffled around a lot. I got a nibble the other day on possible space, just n...

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our loving companion and friend Apostrophe.
We raised him from a little slip of a kitten, and he had a most active and comfortable 15 years with us.
Due to complications with cancer, he had at least one mini-stroke over Easter weekend and was doing very poorly. We made the very hard decision to let our little friend leave us gracefully, and with the very gentle and understanding help of our vet, we let him leave us today.
He lived a ...

The local Asian community is celebrating Chinese New Years this evening, and oddly enough wanted a belly dancer. Amusing, I know, but I have done it in the past out West; if you take the Silk Route angle it's not so strange. :0) Added bonus, I was born in the year of the Rat, so dancing in the new Rat year was a fun thing.
Lucie booked me for a quick 10 minute performance at 9pm. I started to get ready at around 6 and was finally ready to go by 8:40. I was at the gig and ready to go for 9 ...

Maiwen/Sheridan is one of those people you meet for the first time and immediately love. She is someone you KEEP for life as a friend because of the sheer genuineness of her being. When you look in her eyes, you see that deep down fire and the warm candle of truth, justice and honesty.
But this is not quite Little Miss Sweetness from next door, over for crumpets and tea. If you've seen her in armour clobbering the guys, you know this. This is a strong, grown-up woman who is aware of the ugly realities of the world. And no, I'm not talking about her man, The Gann.
I am so very honoured to know this woman. You should get to know her too.
