So right before I entered the last two weeks of Massively Intense Painting for the Mousetrap, over in Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill, I got my California Learner's Permit. Woo hoo! Now, the difference, apparently, is that I only have a year to get my license before this thing expires, as opposed to New York where it can sit for like 5 years without anything bad happening (yes, it's embarassing that I know this from experience) so I'm going to reopen my questions of "Where should I take my road test?" and "Hey, does anyone feel like being the person I borrow the car and company from to refresh my driving skills?" "Anyone with any experience in this world whatsoever have any advice for me?" I'm actually an excellent driver besides the lack of confidence and rustiness, it's a long explanation as to why I still don't have my license, but it's a combination of not having parents who gave a shit, and doing everything at once in high school and college that gave me a severe lack of free time to practice enough. I ended up practicing with a dear friend back home right before I decided to get the hell OUT of Long Island, and I took one road test and failed. Sucks, but yeah. That's where I was when I moved here. So... *does a little dance* questions? comments? concerns? Any helpful tips would be appreciated, and better yet, if someone has a car lying around that they don't use very often and feels comfortable with me practicing in it, I have a couple of friends who do NOT have cars but are cool with taking me driving a bit.

trevor would probably give you driving lessons! we have an auto and a stick, so you could get dual training.

let us know. do you have his digits?

Hahahaa
Why yes, yes I do have his digits :-) He was actually the third person I texted to tell him I passed the written test. He and I have tossed around the idea a few times, and he already knows I'd love to go out driving with him, but there's this little thing happening called You Guys Having a Baby so I don't want to press too hard when he's clearly got a lot of responsibility on his plate (or about to be hehehe). It certainly helps that you're the one suggesting it, though! Thanks so much for being so generous even on the brink of an even bigger chapter in your journey :-) Wow that was cheezy. In the event that Fatherly duties take over midstream, I'm definitely hoping the Universe will grant me a few more respondents.

well, alright! here, you can drive next time you're in my car. :P

it'll be a nice change of pace... plus my car is a *tank* that goes about 5 mph, so i'm not worried. hell, you could crash it into the median and it'd just keep trucking. (not that i'm suggesting you do such a thing.)

also, i can say from experience that the road test at the corte madera DMV is easy. really easy. quiet, boring suburban streets FTW.

woo hoo!!!
As long as you feel up for giving me instructions via hiptop when I fuck up, which might be flustering hahahaa (cuz I recall them being a bit flustering for my stepdad once upon a time...) then YAY!
