Soulsalaam is the Shizlaam!
He's always been my favorite DJ
in the whole world. His taste and
skills are absolutely impeccable
and always evolving.
And we were musical friends
before he even had his two turntables.
But he alway had a huge collection of albums and cds.
Huge. Back then we played together.
He played percussion even then. He had been
to Africa. And back in 1992 we had
a live hip-hop reggae group.
Recently, I was his housemate with Sati.
I wasn't sure if we were going to get
along as roomies or not because we
both have strong ideas. What I found out
was that beyond Soul's super star persona...
he's the sweetest kindest brother you could
ever know. I had no idea. Really! He's got
a golden heart, a gentle soul. Hearing
his rugged tracks you'd never know.
I hope I didn't blow his cover. And now
he's a PAPA. Congratulations brother.
Your gonna be a great Dad. And a hip one
at that.

I especially give you "mad mojo props" for putting the word out for things your friends are working on and sending out emails even when you are basking on Hol-A-day :)) I also like that you occassionally will voice your opinions about our national and global realities with out blow'n leftist smoke or standing on a soap box..

You bring the beat and the global flavor...So glad I get to experience your talented musical spice.
