Cob Dragon

We've spent the last year or so putting a new roof on the cob house. Well, the roof is now on, it lookss beautiful, and it didn't leak in the first storm of the year. We are bringing the walls up to the new, higher level of the rafters and ceiling. This allows me an opportunity for some fun....Mud Sculpture! I had planned something small and subtle, but as it grew, this dragon took on a life of its own. Beware of looking into the eyes of a dragon, or becoming engaged in a game of riddles......

The Reisling is in

We harvested and pressed the reisling. We pressed the Pinot. We tasted it and it is good! We opened bottles of last years vintage and toasted the harvest. I'm tired, but now I can relax a bit. The years toils have yeilded a harvest. Not overly bountiful but enough. Now the waiting begins as the new wine works its magic......

Harvest is in...almost...

This has been a busy week. We bottled last years wine...4 cases of Pinot Noir and 3 cases of Riesling. Not a lot but much better than the last couple of years, and the wine is much better too. Some to drink and some to share. We harvested the Gewurztraminer Thursday and the Pinot Saturday. They weren't as ready as I would have liked, but if I didn't harvest they would have gone to the birds and the yellow jackets. The yellow jackets were particularly fierce and voracious this year. Took a lot of the fun out of the harvest, but the wine happily fermenting makes me happy again. I now have about 3 gallons of Gewurtz and 17 gallons of Pinot fermenting away. We still have the Riesling to go and the sugar is starting to get up there.... If the birds andf the bees will only let it get a litle more ripe.....
