OK, I've cruised a number of your profiles and you are all a lot cooler than me. Can't act, Can't sing, Can't dance, Can't make pottery. Just a blue collar kind of guy with a minor degree and more college than anyone should have without something to show for it. But I have opinions and I'm not afraid to use them. Your opinion may differ from mine, but that's OK too.

Re: Music (in Raw Wisdom) sensory pleasure from audible sources inducing harmonic swaying of the body. I often wonder why animals don't respond to music the way we do. I have heard dogs howl, but never seen one waltz.

Re: Disney's "A Christmas Carol" (in Dickens Fair History Snobs) I actually find the 3-D annoying. The action scenes were totally out of place in a story that was otherwise being told remarkably well. JIm Carrey's humor intruded its self in a few scenes that might have been brilliant without it. Could have... read more

Re: disposable society (in Raw Wisdom) Predicting the date of the apocalypse serves no purpose. We're headed into a future that looks pretty shaky. You do the best you can today to make the world a better place tomorrow and hopefully there are enough decent caring folks to push us in... read more

Re: OS question (in Raw Wisdom) I think Vista is pretty much dead, though a lot of people had no problem with it. I hate how it double checked every little thing I wanted to do. Go with XP which has a ton of programs available, or wait a few months till Windows 7 proves itse... read more

Re: OS question (in Raw Wisdom) Avoid Norton and Mcafee. I went to a lot of effort to remove Norton from my machine. I was really happy with Kaspersky. Running Trend Micro right now and get a lot more ads and popups. Never had any with Kaspersky, Even on Hulu.com.

My Blog

On Thursday, January 15, I will go on an "Age of Sail" Field trip with Abigail's 8th grade class in San Francisco. Easy Trip for me. Ship never leaves the dock. The premise is this:

"During the 19-hour imaginary voyage, the ship does not leave the dock. The year is 1906. There has been a devastating earthquake and fire and San Francisco lays in smoldering ruins. Our vessels, the C. A. Thayer and the Balclutha, are lumber carriers. Our Captain wants to sail out through the Golden Gate an... read more

So, Am I the only one planning on attending the Dickens Reunion Ball in San Mateo on the January 3? Would like to see a few faces I know and have someone to sit and drink with. Maybe step on a few toes.

For those of you Buffy, Angel, Firefly Fans - Joss Whedon (the creator of those series) has come out with a new movie and is streaming it online for free in three parts starting today. After Thursday, the movie will be taken offline forever. I couldn't reach the site today because I imagine the servers are overloaded. I might wait till Thursday and try and see the thing in one go.

From Vann's picture of the Piratefest, you all looked wonderful and were having a great time and I wish I could have been there with you.

I can't believe I missed it again this year. I spent the morning trimming the feet of fat horses and the rest of the day trying to please my wife, my sister, and my mom as we moved my mom and dad into my sister's house, and me and my family into my mom's house in Morgan Hill.

For those of you returning tomorrow, I envy you. Give a thought to me when... read more

I just admire how ballsy is this lady. She had to have planned this months in advance. Good for her!

"Torchbearers in other cities have complained of aggressive
behavior by paramilitary police in blue track suits sent by Beijing
to guard the Olympic flame. Although there were no major problems
reported in California, they did make their presence felt.

At least one torchbearer decided to show her support for Tibetan
independence during her moment in the spotlight. After being ... read more
