A beautiful man, with wide heart, and a bright, inquisitive, sensitive mind- seeking seriously, and playing purposefully.

I have had a picture of Orion in my head ever since I first met him (which, I should add, was before his relationship with his lovely ball)
He is draped in royal robes, the colors deep and rich: velvelty purple, midnight blue. He is seated on a throne that is both simple and majestic, made of some warm, subtle gold. His crown also is simple and gold. The cosmos radiate from around his head, sky colors fading into deep black, broken by stars and galaxies and distant planets. He sits upright, his feet are firmly planted before him, his head erect. In one hand he holds a clear orb, his fingers wrapped firmly but delicately around it, the other hand is empty, resting on his knee. His gaze is direct, tender, compassionate, wise, with a glimmer of humor hiding in his blue eyes.
Orion, guiding constellation, Orion, mischevious magician, Orion, earnest and sincere and so very loved and cherished by all who know him...

My dad sent me this before thanksgiving -- wow! Never saw something like that before. It is impressive to think that after the lions had attacked and captured one of their young, and the herd had fled, that some how they all collectively decide to turn around and GO BACK to save the kid, that's got to take some form of communication and bravery. Nature, red in tooth and claw. What a world.

"If you listen, truly listen to "I" that "I"

Who speaks deep within each one of us as our most

If you listen, truly listen… "(Rabbi Arthur Waskow)

We are ready for what we must face, a passionate commitment to the inevitable. We prepare daily for a future in which the vast apparatus of the United States of America, the bureaucratic behemoth of capitalist exploitation, has disintegrated into late stage leprosy. Thus there are generals and air force colonels who vainly try to coordinate their actions believing they are fighting to keep the Union intact and guide it safely through the worst storm that ever hit its shores. There are despera...

I want to create a page of quotes, here is one that seems worth keeping somewhere so it is not forgotten:
"I wonder why love is so often equated with joy when it is everything else as well. Devastation, balm, obsession, granting and receiving excessive value, and losing it again. It is recognition, often of what you are not, but might be. It sears and it heals. It is beyond pity and above law. It can seem like truth. But what is truth? Oh this mysterious world in which we know nothing, no...

woke up this morning, actually afternoon, remembering a time in my life that is far away, rummaged through the papers and boxes and found a yellow file folder with print-outs of emails I had sent my mother from my life in Guatemala -- in the crazy years after the peace accords had been signed ending 36-years of civil war, there I had been -- 22 years old -- here is an excerpt from one such email showing my thinking back in 1998:
"Guatemala, a land perpetually at war -- different factions, ...

woke up exhausted, got up anyway, stretched and felt good, sat down to write, couldn't move past my inhibition, trying to describe the near future I got stuck in what seemed plausible and forgot that I am the creator of this story, ahh but one day it shall be read, or so I hope. If it ever gets written.
The whole day sank into tiredness. bills litter my desk, someone needs to deal with those. the same three chords on guitar continue to stump my fingers, f to c to g to c to f to c to g to c...

[Not sure what this one means, it was inspired by plant medicine...]
Hear the story as a detective’s mystery, looking backwards through the clues of time. Coming to a moment of inspiration, when He walked the earth, when He first appeared to us as a divine being present with the pure intention of love.
Those of us who first found him were the dancers, the ones who painted their bodies and donned masks of the sacred spirits. The ones who drank deeply of the fruit of the vine, bodies sw...

Some days I feel like I was born into a suicidal death cult. A society hell-bent on its own destruction, careening toward the cliff with music blaring and champagne overflowing.
At one level we are extracting and consuming natural resources as rapidly as possible, dismantling the life support systems of the planet. While fisheries collapse, rates of extinction climb, arctic ice melts, slums grow, and war rages, we are told by the President that it is our patriotic duty to keep consuming....

I remember figuring it all out in those long walks in the deep winter nights. Sylvester would be barking, whining, whining, barking some more between persistent wimpers. God damn dog, I'd roll over to go back to sleep. But he wouldn't stop. Then my dad would open the door, throw Sylvester in and slam it closed. God damn dog, it was fucking cold outside. Most nights, I'd stumble out of bed, down the steps and open the front door, shifting from left to right, bouncing up and down, watching my b...

about me
turned to hug the monster in pursuit. stepped off the cliff as the dog nipped at my side, smiling. fell to my doom and was reborn a king. joy tickles my heart when I sit still. I sob for the dieing planet. my grief moves me to sing. in dark moods, i swim through shadows exploring other worlds. stomach to stomach, breathing together, i feel safe. your love humbles me, holds me, sustains me. when we laugh, I can levitate. I love to play games, but I'm not just hear for kicks. feel. face the fire, walk through the searing pain, do it again and again. come, take my hand and we'll run...
