"Building A Better Monster" explores the creation of the modern age's most recent monster myth: The Chupacabra. This novella imagines what would occur if enough people collectively began to believe in something, would it make it true? From the early stages of its beginning as a grass roots folktale, "Building A Better Monster" follows the spread of the rumor of the Chupacabra, the goat-sucker, blamed for slaughter of countless animals through Mexico and the American South-west.

In 1996 the... read more

My Testimonials

April 19, 2004
Outside of a certain competitive streak which has recently surfaced, Chris is one of the most pleasant people I know. It's hard to believe he makes his living by scaring the crap out of people! :)

I have known Chris for about 8 years now, he is one of the most creative guy's I have ever known. Definitly someone I consider a true friend. He will forever be the Head Cheese at the Werewolf game and someone I can go to for creative advice. If it were not for Chris, many of our friends would never see each other. When he is not being social you can't seem to find/wake the guy, when he is he is the life of the party!

I hope to be friends with Chris for many many years to come!

What can be said about my friend that which others do not know for themselves. For Chris and I, friendship had a rocky start which had its blame on a certain thin haired, blonde, and manipulative friend that need not be mentioned. So our bond began in San Francisco, and no, not in the intimate sense, for most would assume that city was rife with homo-sexuals and it is, but for myself and Chris who wade through the challenges of straight men. It was late in the evening, nay it was early morning and i, being the driver, sommoned those that rode with me to the chariot (Car) to fly onward to a place of sustenance. So it was that I had with me a council of sorts by the name of Mike who advised me that Chris was accounted for and we should proceed onward to the cafe of breakfast delights. So we did, unknowing that poor Chris sought after us and chased my 96 Honda accord sedan thinking that we abandoned him to to the terrors of San Francisco, and that he would have to seek his own way home. Poor Chris had found his way to that cafe and confronted me, and placed the blame for his plight in quite the loudest manner he could muster, in public mind you. So it was our, (being mike and I'z)duty to advise Chris that it was a slight of error and we had no intention of bringing harm to him in that splendid but awkward city we call San Francisco. So after some yelling and arguing he had finally forgave us, or more to the point forgave me. Since then, I have been nothing but a nuisance to him by braking his plastic sword, braking a shot glass of his, flaked on numerous parties that he was the host to, and have been the poorest excuse of a friend. He hss given me shit for all of these falacies, but at the same time he has remained a true comrade and imbider of vodka, for which we both admire.Yes, we admire it so much that one of us woke up at a hospital. He is an inspiration to me and a mentor for which I look up to him as a honest good willed man. Chris is an honest soul and so we are all acttracted to his innocence, (that being a trusting and forgiving person)and so I shall go on braking his belongings and causing him strife, knowing he shall be a friend to me for eternity.

Na Zdrowie, Chris!
He's one of the sweetest guys I've met down in the Rose. He's passionate and considerate and can throw back shots with me like nothing! *kiss* Much love, Chris.
