Poem of my life

Her words pour out as if her throat
were a broken artery and her mind
were cut-glass, carelessly handled.

You imagine her in a huge velvet hat
with great dangling black feathers,
but she shaves her head instead
and goes for three-day midnight walks.

Sometimes she goes down to the dock
and dances off the end of it,
simply to prove her belief
that people who cannot walk on water
are phonies, or dead.
When she is cruel, she is very, very
cool and when she is kind she is lavish.
Fisherman think perhaps she's a fish,
but they're all fools.
She figured out that the only way
to keep from being frozen
was to stay in motion, and
long ago converted most of her flesh into liquid.
Now when she smells danger,
she spills herself all over,
like gasoline, and lights it.
She leaves the taste of salt and iron
under your tongue, but you dont mind
The common woman is as common
as the reddest wine

Currently stuck in my head

so that's how you found me
rain falling around me
lookin down at a worm
with a long way to go
and the traffic was hissing by
and i was homesick
and i was high

i was surrounded by a language
in which i could say only hello
and thank you very much
and you spoke so i could understand
and i drew a treasure map on your hand

and you were no picnic
you were no prize
but you had just enough pathos
to keep me hypnotized
hypnotized

the map led to an island
in a sea of store-bought dreams
where soulless singers sang
over beats built by machines

and lovely girls were hovering
above my head like gulls
with their long slender necks
and their delicate skulls

and i was no picnic
i was no prize
but i had just enough sweetness
to keep you hypnotized
hypnotized

so that's how you found me
rain falling around me
lookin down at a worm
with a long way to go

about me
These things: changing, breathing, watching, listening. forever learning and improving upon who i am. Seize the moment when it drives me. take my time walking home. Say yes. feel music bounce between my sternum and spine then moveas it winds its way towards my fingers and toes. Listen to the world as it speaks. watch the traffic on the interstate rushing under the overpass. wonder at the city around me and dream of the outside worlds. Think about all the possibilities and articulate when the moment catches me. Save my words for when they matter most. Never lie and do my best not to bring harm to others. Rolling with the blows and embracing life as it happens. Loving every moment. EVery Moment. The good, bad, amazing and ugly.

Itty Bitty Life Lessons

"We should have as many words for love as the eskimos have for snow." ~me

"It is a dark, cool, quiet place. A basement in your soul. And that place can sometimes be dangerous to the human mind. I can open the door and enter that darkness, but I have to be very careful. I can find my story there. Then I bring that thing to the surface, into the real world." ~Haruki Murakami

"We love because it's the only true adventure. We write because we believe the human spirit cannot be tamed and should not be trained." ~Nikki Giovanni

""The truest art-form is that life which is lived fully,in its terrors, passions, giggles etc. with full awareness of BEING in this moment & this & this. Your life is art, at its finest. You are a superb example of an artful life....." ~R. Rain

"Of all the strange "crimes" that human beings have legislated of nothing, "blasphemy" is the most amazing - with "obscenity" and "indecent exposure" fighting it out for the second and third place." ~Robert A. Heinlein

"Like god's own chocolate I would lick her shadow off of a hot sidewalk." ~christopher moore

"Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Holy Shit...What a ride!" ~wall of Temple of Memories 2004 BM

"Squint your eyes and look closer, I'm not between you and your ambition, I am a poster girl with no poster, I am 32 flavors and then some...." ~Ani DiFranco

"Life may be short, but it is also wide" ~Rebbeca Wells

a pretty mess of patchwork, this one. if you pigeonhole, peer through. you'll get an unexpected view. off her perch, she's prancing dancing and you couldn't keep up even if you could get in. a rich man can't enter through the eyelet, but if you have empty enough hands, she might drop her note into them. if you've studied birds hard enough, you might even be able to read it.

i'm so pleased to be blessed enough to know this stilt-walking, costume-building, wall-demolishing, heart-warming gal from CO. a friend you can truly count on.

calli is one cool chica, with some beautiful tats to match. just don't let her at any powertools without a full night's rest.
