The Happenings.......

I obviously have too much time on my hands this evening, to be able to turn these photos around so quick.
But we really enjoyed our afternoon with Lucent as they visited the Glass Garage Gallery. A group of artist inspired by Lucent Dossier have come together to share with us their amazing work
The sun was perfect. A warm glow bathing everything. The sun bouncing off the hard wood floor. Beautiful!
And then of course there was the Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque performers!!!!
What a blast!!! People really got involved and loved them!!
There was a surreal vibe to the whole proceedings.
It was quite a thing to see....
Thanks for putting up with our cameras in your face for awhile, Lucent!!

Many of you know Orion, or at least about him...
Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of Orion leaving us and this world.
We still miss him greatly.
Yesterday I was cleaning my office and ran across some pictures he had taken of us together in the office, memories of him running through our house in his energetic way came flooding back.
My wife and I loved having him living with us for most of 2006.
When he did leave, he was in a troubled spirit.
He wanted adventure and bonding (with his father).
He called me the night of the 2nd. I was filming "Detroit SWAT" , doing nights in the freezing cold on the wild streets of Detroit, and I missed his call.
Early the next morning when I got in I listened to his message. He said everything was cool, and wanted to know if he could stay with us again in a few a weeks when he returned from Florida. He sounded sad, but upbeat. Then I left him a message saying "Come on back. You're welcome anytime."
A few hours later I was awakened by a call from Dana, telling me the sad news.
Noelle and I were heart broken......
The next day I got a call from his dad, answering the message I had left.
We will never know the feelings that were tormenting him as he sat in his broken down van in a parking lot in the pouring rain. But we do know that he felt it wasn't worth it anymore. But if I or Noelle could've done anything to relieve him of his pain, we would have.
We love and miss you Oie.

...last night was intense. For 5 hours we were stuck in the middle of a heavily wooded area about 30 miles outside of Bagdad. Stuck there due to the intense amount of enemy fire that has us pinned down, praying for our lives. I managed to get a few shots off. Heres one of the M-60 machine gunner SFC Shmidt keeping us covered. We finally cleared the terrorists only by calling in Apache gunships in the early morning that literally blew the woods to toothpicks!
Right now I'm just trying to recover and get some sleep.
Wish me luck.

Peat did I see you there?

As you probably have noticed, I don't Blog as much as I used too. I find Blogging sometimes takes a form of self promoting that I don't really like. To me the Tribe is not really the right place for me to promote myself professionally. I mean really, who out there is going to hire anyone because of any of the exploits they write on their Blog.
Speaking of exploits....
I just recently was asked if I wanted to be an embedded photo journalist in Iraq. It is an experimently unit, a splinter group of the famous Air Calvary Unit (made famous in "Apoclaypse Now"). Without hesitation I said 'Yes'.
I now have found out that the extent of the experiment is that the unit is only allowed 70's vintage uniforms, weapons and gear. Yet they are choppered into some of the most terrifying areas of Iraq. Always using vintage choppers and radio gear.
As you can imagine this elite unit has had some tough times over the last month. I will continue to Blog from the front lines of the battle against Terrorism in Iraq.
Wish me luck!
