about me
Dream it.. Do it... Repeat !!!
I found this quote in Dec 24th - 2005, the morning after my father died.. It AMAZED me. For quite a while, I had felt isolated because I didn't know anyone else had thought this - In many ways, this was the last gift I received from my Dad. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." (Authored and published by Marianne Williamson) More ? Hmmm.. the quick stuff on me? I'm a creative, successful, funny, progressive, social, smart, adventurous and unique guy. Enjoying lots of time with family and friends, we've shared best times and difficult ones: from joking so hard somebody pees to helping two through chemo, laughter is our constant companion. They run entire spectrum of ages and socio-economic groups - Teachers & Lawyers, Nieces and Grand Parents, Artists & Docs, Musicians & Journalists. This inspiring group of eclectic achievers and thinkers keep me smiling and thriving. I own a large, industrial, recycling company. My staff & I have crafted it to provide us with the challenge & pride of good work, while keeping it informal. It's grown enough to provide the resources and flexibility to do the things that I've dreamed. There is so much to life; here are a couple dreams that I've lived: - Biggest project so far was architecturally redesigning and restoring a 100 year old building into my loft home. The indoor pictures of me were taken there. - Vacations in Europe, Asia, S. America, Australia, N Zealand, etc and spontaneous weekend trips to NYC, Mexico and out of the way spots are favorites! - For body mind balance: Athletic training 5 days a week (w trainer), Snow boarding, Sailing, Kite boarding, acrobatic yoga, it's all important for feeling mentally and physically strong and invigorated. - Charity work. From days of hands on work to black tie benefits; chipping in and helping in the arts and Planned Parenthood is deeply important to me. - I strive for opportunities to grow my mind: Learning and engaging the arts, taking CE classes at Rice, Glassel Art School, etc. Funny and deep conversations with people – old and new friends and ‘the locals’ when traveling - to explore life together. I start with opening my mind to listen. It's taken a while for me to arrive at this place; lots of challanges, mentors and self aware living has provided me the experiences, resources and lessons I’ve needed be sure that I’ll be an amazing husband and dad. I think I skipped my 'first marriage mistake' by knowing I wasn't ready. I seem to have missed out on the 'watching sports on TV' gene & got the 'doing' DNA instead. We're off to the beach together, going to art performances and openings, really talking/sharing with friends, throw a costume party or 2 hour photo contests, or a very nice meal and a walk afterwards. Whatever it is, I like to do it - from jumping out of an airplane or relaxing and cudding together on the couch... not so much into the half doing. I am looking for a very smart woman to grow through life with; someone who challenges and inspires me, while providing the comfort of a true best friend. She’s likely tired of workahaulics and those who 'talk big at first and end up boring'. She loves my stable and secure, yet very playful and adventurous nature, laughs at my constant joking and throws curve balls back at me. I'm a sucker for brainiacs and adventurous, optimistic types who can thrive on life’s beauty, and can share closeness and a laugh during its intense challenges. If you are the kind of woman who thinks, as I do, that marriage and kids includes soft kisses, us helping with homework, our special date night every weekend, 'the 5 second rule', and (really) buying a villa in some foreign land and packing everyone up for an international adventure – Living a special life, then we might just be the perfect match. Peace - Jim

"Please give my condolences to Michael (Scoggins), and this message.. I have lost all my grandparents and my father. I hope he takes comfort in knowing that he maintained contact with them, as I did. I was lucky enough to realize (they knew this more than me), that I had a life to LIVE - as they lived. Friends, career, personal development, fun, the works. They treasured the time we spent together, yet the amount ... read more
