This guy is really good at cultivating gardens, communities and awkward moments. He's not so good at staying in contact with out-of-town friends, however. That's alright because I get all the gossip from the crew. As usual he is the unwitting source of laughs and entertainment even from 500-Miles away.

So my camp, Mooncake Rebellion, has been assigned to 730 and Gremlin. That is where the firestaff making session will be. Come on out and make a staff or show people your moves. Our camp has a lot of room so we are thinking about having fire jams ...

Hello to you all. Just letting you know what I am up to down here in the Philippines. I am in a part of the Philippines known to most as a haven for some terrorist types. If you read up more on it, where I am is supposed to be very safe, Camiguin Island. I met a really cool family last night, had some amazing tuna meal and tried some of the fermented coconut liquor. Tasted like vinegar.
Oh yeah, before hand I saw a cock fight. Dude, that is really, really nasty. Before the fight everyone i...

Due to vessel scheduling issues, I only got to spend two days in Taiwan. Thank goodness I decided to take a bus to a small town about 40 km NE of Kaohsiung called Meinong. It is an area known for numerous Hakka's living there. From what little I have read, Hakka's are a small minority of people who I believe also came from mainland China (I do not think they are indigenous to Taiwan- there are several such cultures still on the island). Anyways, one of the things they do in this town is mak...

I have been here in South Africa for six days now. So far I have been blown away by the natural beauty that has been preserved here. I have spent a few days near St Lucia wetland park, then a few days in hluhluwe-imfolozi park. I have seen many, many of the following: giraffes, rhinos, hippos, hyenas, elephant (just one), zebras, wildebeests, impalas, reedbucks, baboons, monkeys, bushbaby's, mongoose, warthogs, nyalas, kudus, and waterbucks, It is amazing how big the preserves are. Very impre...

So I have been in Japan for a week now. What an amazing place. I have often scoffed at aesthic (sp?) form over a desire for function only. I believe this trip to Japan might help me open up and be more positive towards the aesthic. For a place so cramped, where every square inch is highly desired, the Japanese still put a high value on how something looks. I have continually been taking out my camera and taking pictures of examples of this.
Also, so far, I found the Japanese people I ha...
