So bored...

So I'm sitting at work today, bored. There's only about 8 people here, everyone else has today off for Good Friday (which cracks me up, cause the CEO of the company is Jewish). I'm waiting for the editors or the big boss to give me something to do, but basically I'm just here in case they need something.

I should have brought in my sewing machine or something ;)

On the plus side, I get paid for the 8 hours of holiday pay I would have gotten anyway, plus time and a half for the hours I work... which I can really use.

So again, I post this plea for something to amuse me. I just watched Zabala's spontaneous musical link, and that was great :)

So my work is going thru some changes, and one of those is a new look inside... the VP's have been getting furniture and stuff, and yesterday I got an email from one of them asking for suggestions for the walls upstairs... So if you are interested in being considered for something like this (they are interested in painting directly on the walls), please let me know and / or give me a website that shows your work. I have no idea what the pay would be, that would be something you would probably negotiate directly with my bosses :) But I thought this might be a neat opportunity for someone who likes doing this sort of thing :)

Let me know!

So I've got this nook seat (see picture) that used to be in my house and is now sitting in my backyard and needs a good home... someone suggested to me that it might be neat for an art car or something. :) Or whatever else you could think of to use it for.

So if you can help me out finding someone who wants this, I would greatly appreciate it :) It's free, all you have to do is come get it. I need to get rid of it in the next 3 weeks because (drumroll please) I bought a hot tub!

BTW, the covering is vinyl, the table and the single chair are not included :)

Thanks!

So I'm busy at work and need to go fill sandbags because it's supposed to rain on monday (my garage has some water that gets in). And of course the place that gives them away free (you just have to fill them yourself) is only open M-F from 8am - 2pm. Bastards. :)

Does anyone know where I can get filled sandbags on the weekend? I need about 10-12 of them. Thanks :)

Post subject: Sealing up mesh panels/roof in a tent

(copied from the eplaya)

dronf - Every year i sweep a bunch of dust out of my tent, but this year it sounds like i may need to take more drastic action. I am considering sealing up the mesh roof of my tent(which is under a fly).
I realize that this may make the tent hotter in the day, but i don't want to have to dig past 6 inches of dust to find my pillow each night.
I'm thinking of digging up some nylon fabric and hot glue gunning it over the mesh panels. Has anyone ever done this, and if so, how were the results? Do you have any tips you could share?
thanks!

Burp! - One word: Ziploc Bags

dronf - Everything will already be in ziplock bags, inside of larger ziplock bags. I'm just trying to avoid the sepia tone look of everything covered in 2 inches of dust.

Burp! - Tent sized ziploc bags is what I meant, but I had already went over my one word limit. sorry

~ I was reading through the eplaya, and Burp!s last entry just really made me laugh... maybe I've not gotten enough sleep, but maybe it will make you laugh as well :) Here's the original thread in case you want to continue reading: http://eplaya.burningman.com/viewtopic.php?t=21311

And now back to your regularly schedule tribing and burn prep~

To ask all my friends where they are camping this year!

I will be at the RLD at 4:30 and C-D (the whole block), so if your camping there, you already know I know where you'll be. :)

Also, some fun activities I'm involved with at the RLD are the SHIT (sumo hooping invitational tournament) on Wed around 3 pm in the main area (sign up sheet will be in the Rez area of the RLD all week, or just show up! Bring your hoop if you've got it), the Red Party Thursday evening (dancing, djs, etc around 9pm or after a lot of us are done with Oceans of Fire), and a nifty wheel of fortune in the Rez to win a prize :)

See you all out there, I leave Thursday night!

Okay, so I had a bunch of people who offered to help me move, and we've finally set a date.

April 28th (Saturday)

So, anyone who can help us move, please let me know if you can commit to doing this... We will pack up the stuff from my apartment (okay load stuff, it will already be packed and ready to roll) in Studio City at around 9am, then take everything over to the new house in Highland Park and unload... My dad will be there grilling up ribs, chicken, and tons of veggies for us to munch on, as well as cold sodas and beer and music... Finish unloading then get ready (for who ever is going) to hit the Vanguard in Hollywood that night for Blue, Wolfie, Porter TInsley, Saynt, JP & Rhines with Judge Jules. Whee!

So anyway, let me know if you are available / willing to help heft stuff, and I will love you for eternity... :)

I need a roommate!

Okay, so you all probably know all about my new house by now :) Now I need 1 more roommate, here's the details:

The house is a 1911 craftsman (ish) 3 bed 2 bath, single story, in a nice area of Highland Park. The lot is over 10,000 square feet, a garage that will be a craft / chill area, driveway parking, and plenty of street parking. There will be a washer / dryer in the house, soon to have a dishwasher... Possibly A/C, I'm waiting for the estimate from the guy :) Room to build an art car, spin fire and create. We will be getting a hot tub in the 1st 2-3 months of living there.

Rent is $900 / month plus utilities (water, gas, electric - cable, internet optional), move in is 1st and last months rent.
Get the 2nd largest room 12.5x11.3 feet, with bamboo flooring, and the best closet in the house :)
Share a bathroom with one male (Jefferson)
No smoking of anything in the house (sorry :) Smoking in the garage or outside is okay.
Like dogs, we will have a small / medium sized dog there some of the time, your pets may be welcome if they get along with people. :)

I would love to have someone who I already know and love move in with us, we are really looking forward to sunday morning brunches, hanging in the hot tub and having many small gatherings at the house!

Move in could be anywhere from the last week of April to the 1st of May, but for the right person I can be flexible ;)

I'm sure there are lots more details I could list here, but let me know if you are interested or have any questions! I'm posting this on my blog for now, next week I will extend the ad to the general public :) But I would really rather share a living space with someone I already know.

You may have seen this already, on someone else's blog or from another source, but I am reposting this anyway; maybe it will reach even one person who hasn't heard about this horrible injustice. If we can help just ONE person, perhaps it can be a start to ending shit like this.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=wilson

Please read the article linked above about a high school student who has been sentenced to ten years in a Georgia state prison without the possibility of parole, followed by a lifetime label as a registered sex offender, for receiving a consensual blow job from a classmate. He was 17, she was 15.

The most disturbing excerpt from the article (keep in mind that the convicted, Genarlow Wilson, is a young black man):

=== The position of (assigned prosecutor) Eddie Barker and the district attorney, David McDade, who refused to comment, is that Wilson is guilty under the law and there is no room for mercy, though the facts seem to say they simply chose not to give it to Wilson. At the same time this trial was under way, a local high school teacher, a white female, was found guilty of having a sexual relationship with a student -- a true case of child molestation. The teacher received 90 days. Wilson received 3,650 days. ===

I refuse to accept that this is allowed to happen anywhere in our country, and I cannot just forget about this and click my mouse onto the next bit of info. If you are as outraged by this as I am, then please sign the petition here:

www.wilsonappeal.com/petition.php

It'll take you all of 10 seconds to sign it, and all they need is your name and city of residence.

If you're looking for a chance to make a positive difference in someone's life, here it is.

Thank you.

PS: And if you can reprint this in some form in your own blog, to help spread the word, so much the better.

Well, we are backing out of our offer on the house...
For those who hadn't heard, basically, the listing that we made the offer on was for a building that had central heat and air, new plumbing, new electrical, new roof, concrete foundation... when we started inspections we discovered that it was all false... most of the house still had old electrical from the turn of the century, the a/c and heat wasn't hooked up because there was no electricity to support it (and there we pigeons living in one a/c unit), the plumbing in the bathrooms was the only thing new (there was actually a black iron pipe going into the kitchen which is highly poisonous), the foundation was brick, the roof was half done and had a hole in one part, and the sewer system was blocked... so we got in estimates to get the work done, and asked the seller to do the work (knowing that this was unlikely)... his response was the bare minimium needed on the house, which he will have to do anyway if he ever wants to sell the place... so, we are backing out... hopefully it will go smoothly and he won't give us too much trouble to get out of escrow and get our money back...
Now we go back to looking at other places... already there are 2 neat ones in the running, but we will see what happens next...
Hopefully 3rd times the charm. ;)

I love my friends!!!

I've been sitting here sending messages trying to convey the absolute joy I feel with all the wonderful people in my life, and it was getting hard trying to send individual messages, so I figured I would shower you all with my love through my blog. :)

Seriously though, the burn really made me realize who my friends really were, even those who weren't there or I didn't get to see... I got to connect to so many people I had really just met in passing, and to strengthen relationships with people I already knew... Especially since I was sick, and people didn't hold it against me too much when I was a bit cranky or had a mood swing or two :) I really appreciate all the wonderful people in my life, and how much you all add to each and every moment... Just wanted to take a moment to say thank you and I love you all!

Okay... now back to your regularly scheduled dry humor and sarcasm ;)

Does anyone know of a good place to get legs waxed in the Hollywood area, specifically close to Cahuenga and Sunset? I need to go during a lunch break, so it needs to be close...
I got busy this weekend and wasn't able to make it to my usual place in the valley :( booo...
Thanks! :)

Mmm... a little of my modeling / rendering of the Catacombs of Paris... for the trailer for an upcoming movie, which, strangely enough, has about 5 frames in the intro of one of our favorite DJ's, Wolfie ;)

PS - check out the render stats in the corner... over 3 hours and it's only on frame 31 out of 121 frames... maybe I should just go home till it's done? ;)

As I sit here, at my desk, at 3:15 in the afternoon, drinking a hornsby's hard cider and working on music and choreography for a fire show while I wait for the little mermaid to copy to my desktop so I can continue working on the DVD TV trailer campaign... It will take about another hour or two to copy... Guess I'll listen to music till then...

;)

Have a great weekend, everyone!
