I had an amazing solo experience on Saturday that I thought I would share. I found myself on a journey, walking along the beach at sunset listening to Brett Dennen on the iPod. You know how with some songs they are really meant to be sung to someone (or you have someone in mind when you sing them to yourself). Warren Haynes' song about the death of Jerry Garcia starts "I never knew you ..." Well I never really knew Missy. I stumbled upon her Tribe profile way before I was ever a member, way before I even knew what Happy Brigade was. I was going through some tough times at the same time Missy was and her writings really gave me perspective. I got a true sense that Missy was a very special human being, by the way she was processing the tragedy surrounding her and her utlimate sense of responsibility to "family." Months later I joined Tribe and was so happy to see Missy's profile and to see that her life was back on track. I wrote her a note telling her the story and how much I appreciated her writings. I told her that I have a lot of family in Athens and that I looked forward to meeting her there sometime this spring. I am sure it comes as no surprise what her response was.
I am touched by the outpouring of love and by this amazing group of human beings. Missy was blessed to have y'all in her life as much as this community is blessed with her memory. She has touched my life in ways I can only begin to articulate and I didn't even know her (until now).
