What a down to earth guy! Totally up for anything and really wants to share what he knows to make better dancers and musicians! He will charm you with a great sense of humor and ease your frustrations of not being able to get somthing right away with a great joke!
This guy is definately fabulous to improve with! He works with you and totally gets the concepts of showmanship and being an entertainer! If you get the chance to dance for his drum solos... Totally go for it! He makes you look great!
Not to mention that he is known for being totally unstoppable, And the rumors are true! Practice all day, then drum at a show for hours.. then out to a restaurant afterwards and make music all night! When does this guy sleep?!!!
Totally a great bubble of sharing and goodwill on stage and off... Totally a great tour buddy!

OK. So we hired Carmine to come west and work with Snakes Rising... Wow! I can't remember when the Snakes have worked harder, or had more fun. The drum solos were smokin' and the rehearsals were mind-blowing. To be honest, we all feel as if we have been in an earthquake. Not sure how long it will take to recover.
The open workshop in Louisville was well attended and came of beautifully. In fact, I have not seen a drummer/ dancer combined workshop that came together as well as this one did. With noone seeming bored or overwhelmed. Laylia and Carmine are both such fabulous teachers! Relaxed, confident, candid..... Perfect together! Carmine does play/ work well with others. <wink>
May I make a recommendation? Of course I may... That is why I am here in the testimonial part of Carmine's Tribe profile! OK, here ya go...
If you have a mideast band that needs a butt kickin'... Carmine is your man. No joke. He will work ya to death for a few days and you'll never be the same. Really. I mean it!

When Carmine shows up, the party starts. No more practicing with the metronome, it's time to show off our stuff.

What to say that hasn't been said?
Carmine is a great guy, talented musician and a valued friend of mine. He lives in Manhattan so that definitely helps!
Carmine has helped me take my music to the next level. He will patiently sit with me and practice songs, over and over again. His positive attitude and excitement for Middle Eastern music are catching.
Thanks, Carmine.
You raq!

If you remember a couple blogs back... My band Djinn had a bunch of songs featured on "Secrets of the Sistine Chapel" on ABC last Friday at 8pm.
The ABC crew (a couple producers, editors and other folks) stopped by Je'Bon last night (our weekly gig). Everyone was super cool and got up to dance! They knew our songs (probably from editing them all last week).
We played Jimmy Hafla and they freaked out... and they let us know..
2.5 Million people saw that TV show the other day. I'm ...

Hey All,
I have some tambourines.. well.. almost tambourines... they have missing heads/skins. Some only have 1 set of jingles.
I do not believe in throwing instruments away. Maybe one of you wants them to put inside a bass doumbek, or to take the 1 set of jingles off or something.
Anyway... i'm willing to put them in a box and send them anywhere for $0.
If anyone from Rhode Island wants them.. I'll be there in 2 weeks and you can take all my busted tambourines :)

Re: Closer-to-Period Pennsic Hafla
(in SCA Middle Eastern Musicians)
Violin.. period... using it in Middle Eastern music... not period.
The Hurdy Gurdy is period.. but also.. not used to make Middle Eastern music...
This is going to be a very small party :)
