</a>
										<div>Hey All!

I shot my Begintermediate Doumbek Workshop video this weekend! It was quite an adventure.

I decided to shoot at "The Spot on Thayer" in Providence Rhode Island.

I got the car loaded with myself, Melissa and Willa and TONS of equipment. It rained and rained and rained and rained.
It stopped raining when we stopped at a rest stop, but it quickly rained again when we started driving again.

It was coming down in sheets and I had to drive 40 mph most of the way :(

Finally getting there, we unloaded the car quickly and began to setup...

What I learned from my previous video shoot.
1. However long you think it's going to take to setup. Add an hour to that.

2. Run cameras off of batteries. Last time I think someone tripped over my wide shot power cable and I had no wide shot for most of a shoot.

3. Bring lots of extension cords. The cables on the lights were like super short, just barely enough to touch the ground when on a stand.

4. Get lots of cut-away footage. This time, Willa took tons of footage of people nodding, smiling, etc. so we could use it to make editing simpler.

5. One location is plenty :) I got really ambitious the first time shooting in three places, but it took a long time to import and sort through all the footage.

6. Relax! I was much more comfortable in front of the camera this time and actually forgot about it completely and just taught as I always did.

For me, shooting a live class really works. It really captures my teaching style best. I'm blessed to have such great students and helpful people. Everyone was extremely patient under the hot lights.

We did not encounter a single issue with the shoot. Everything went perfectly well. Thank you all!

Following my shoot, Melissa taught a Middle Eastern music class for all instruments. She's been teaching this type of class all around the country. It's a fantastic class and I recommend taking it to get your feet wet with playing this music.

And of course... we had a Jalsah at the end of the night. 3 hours of music and dancing. People came from New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island to play music and dance. Everyone had a fantastic time and asked "when are you coming back? When can you come to Boston? When can you do this in New York"

Life is wonderful!

...look for my video in March 2009

    </a>
<div>This is an old song by an old friend. It came up on my iTunes randomly the other day.
I've been listening to it again and again...

The lyrics kill me... It's been in my head for days now.

I couldn't find the lyrics online so I'm just going to type them out:

For Now
Sarah Brenner
from the album: Unsteady Ground

(I'm doing this while listening so I may not be so accurate)

You don't belong to me
Though I wish you did
I only have you here on loan
And I know I'm acting like a little kid
Throwing a tantrum over something that
I can not own

'Cause I know it's all very... temporary
There is nothing more in you to love.
'Cause you're such a free spirit
Whose heart's not in it
So I'll take what I can get
For Now

You don't belong to me
And I won't expect from you
Any more than you do from yourself
'Cause I was just lucky
To catch a glimpse of you passing through
On your way to bigger and better things
Somewhere else
For you this is all so very... ordinary
There's nothing more in you to love
'Cause Your such a free spirit
Whose heart's not in it
So I'll take what I can get
For Now

BRIDGE:
You told me from the start
I should protect my heart
Only makes me wonder
Just what am I doing this for?

You told me once again
That this is gonna end
But it only makes me
Want you more

'Cause I know it's all very... temporary
I've been racking my brains for some way some how
I can't keep your free spirit
Your hearts not in it
So I'll take what I can get
I'll take what I get
I'll take what I get
For Now
