I have so much respect for Carrie! She's a beautiful, talented, veteran Dickens and Ren actor who kicks ass out in the street! She's possessed of a razor wit that constantly batters at my ability to come back. I love that! She's the best Cockney I've ever 'eard! I am so glad we're castmates and whats more, friends! Carrie, you keep me on my toes! Keep it up, baby! As I said, you Rock!

So Carrie has written me TWO testimonials because she felt that one was clearly not enough to let the world know precisely what she thoinks about me.
She called me a bastard. Tiwce. For this act of simple wickedness, I adore her. It takes one, to know one, says I, and Carrie, while being a great mother, a skilled actress/fight director, and friend is also a grade-A, Class 1 certifiable (S.O.B. - Society of Bastards) BASTARD! She even has her own Evil Minion! She plays a great Weird Sister! Adore her, or fear her, the choice is yours.... September 19, 2007
She's very clean.
Her hair looms large in her legend. She doesn't like that shirt, it's dead grotty. She's a King Mixer. September 15, 2007
P.S. - Carrie is a great mom. She's the mom that all of Arabis' friends are going to like. It'll be "Let's go to Arabis' house, her mom is SO cooool!"

"I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose history is ended, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, whose literature is unread, whose music is unheard, whose prayers are no longer uttered. Go ahead, destroy this race. Let us say that it is again 1915. There is war in the world. Destroy Armenia. See if you can do it. Send them from their homes into the desert. Let them have neither bread nor water. Burn their houses and their churches. See if the race will not live again when two of them meet in a beer parlor, twenty years after, and laugh, and speak in their tongue. Go ahead, see if you can do anything about it. See if you can stop them from mocking the big ideas of the world, you sons of bitches, a couple of Armenians talking in the world, go ahead and try to destroy them....for when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a new Armenia!"
I received a message yesterday from Sarah, Tony's niece with information about the memorial service.

Normally, I follow the teachings of that greatest of philosophers, Linus Van Pelt, in that there are three things I never discuss: "...politics, religion and the Great Pumpkin." But after being perpetually assaulted with flashing banner ads on almost every page on Tribe urging voters to do the "right thing" and "protect marriage" by voting Yes on 8, I'm breaking my own rule.

5 August 1946 - 9 August 2008 Brian died last night a few minutes before midnight. I spoke to Nell for almost an hour today and here is what she wanted me to tell all of you: "Brian got away in time to make the 12 o'clock show. There won't be any arguing over who will drive (the band) because Ricker will take over as he always did, and Bob and Brian will be goofing off in the background. Most likely, they'll both be kicked off the stage at some point. I can hear... read more

No other news. If you want to contact Nell, emails are better for her than phone calls. There will be wakes planned for both Casa and Dickens Fair as well as a local wake in Vallejo. Right now, I hope that Brian is regaling Ricker with fishing stories and Bob is laughing quietly in the background. Will update when I can.
This is from Nell. I'm passing this on to all of us old-time Faire Folk. I hope you guys up at Lark can access this and respond. The attached photo I took at Jonathan Howell's house on 12 July 2008. L to R: Robert Hill, Brian, Nell, Mark Ungar

From Nell Blackwell: Brian is in his last days with us, hanging on by a very tenuous thread. I think that he (on some level) was determined to make it to his 62nd birthday, which is today. A few Faire folk have passed through in the last week, say... read more
