A lot of folks can't understand how we came To have an oil shortage here in our country. ~~~ Well, there's a very simple answer. ~~~ Nobody bothered to check the oil. ~~~ We just didn't know we were getting low. ~~~ The reason for that is purely geographical . ~~~ Our OIL is located in ~~~ ALASKA ~~~ California ~~~ Coastal Florida ~~~ Coastal Louisiana ~~~ Kansas ~~~ Oklahoma ~~~ Pennsylvania And Texas ~~~ Our DIPSTICKS Are located in Washington , DC !!! and I ran into a couple cute ones selling their cookies the same way I did so many years ago. They have a new one that I am in love with called "cinnaspin" they are packaged as 100 calorie snacks and are full of cinnamon-y goodness. During this pregnancy, I have had an on going weakness for cinnamon. These are so yummy. So if you come across some girl scouts, try them and if you aren't a fan...you can give them to me!!!!

rain, snow, rain, and more rain....to turn into snow this afternoon/evening. This means a slushy afternoon and a very icy night and morning. Not so much fun. The wind is pretty strong too. Good thing we are staying indoors! It is miserable out there!

We have been getting some good movies on netflix lately and I thought I would share. Hairspray. OMG!!! This movie is sooooo good that I have watched it twice already. The music is fabulous and even Phil enjoyed it. the cast rocks. jude was swinging his baby butt to the music. Meet the Robinsons. Adorable! Great movie for kids. Jude loved the T-Rex. When the dino came out, he started growling like a dino and running around the house. Harry Potter....everyone has seen it. So, no need to talk about it. Resident Evil.....Nos secret that I love the game and the concept. I actually played the first one back on a blue playstation and the game was in japanese. The zombie head stomping was cool! so, OMG! Great movie with total video game shots and screens from the video game series brought into the movie. I loved it. I actually love all three of them. One is still the best for squirm factor. 2 and 3 are great for popcorn, no thinker Zombie and gratuitous violence! CGI is pretty cool too! Me likey a lot!!!

snowed about 5 inches last night and is expected to snow 1/2 inch per hour as low as 3000 feet today. YIKES. We are at 5500. Guess Jude and I are exploring inside games today. I will try to take pics.

After coming back from Nor Carolina, my in laws treated us to their fabulous breakfast routine. My father in law's wife taught me some of her recipes and we have adapted this into our routine. we have a grapefruit every morning. Costco has amazing texas grapefruits. We half them and section them. no sweetener needed. They are perfect. We usually have oatmeal or malt o meal. Our oatmeal of choice is "Coach's". It is steel type and very good! She also taught me how to make her bran muffins. They were so good. Problem is that Phil doesn't like raisins....and the recipe called for raisin bran. I changed the recipe to have wheat flour instead of all purpose, added splenda instead of sugar, and used special K instead of Raisin bran. it creates a great base that can keep in your fridge for up to a month. Today, I took the base and added a smashed ripe banana and walnuts. Warm mufffins in less than 20 minutes and no mess to contend with. Very yummy! Much healthier than eggs, toast, and so on. I also make pancakes or waffles for Jude and freeze them for easy breakfast in the morning for him. He has the patience of a two year old. :) they need instant gratification!

I am making candy for the first time. This is a new adventure for me and I LOVE IT! How fun to take a basic premise of a recipe and create your own. I have also been handed down the secret family recipe for caramel corn. Today, I have plans to make fudge and biscotti. I need to make cinnamon rolls for work as well. I make these from scratch as well. Very yummy! If time permits, I will also be making cranberry bread. Above pic has kahlua and cream truffles, peppermint stick truffles, and caramel corn.

The temp is falling very quickly. I am a bit cold too. I kept Jude in PJ's today becasue they would guarantee comfort and warmth. the snow should be dumping in a couple of hours. According to the news, at 4500 feet. We are at 5400. 7000 feet is already being blanketed. It has been raining all day. that has been really nice. Jude and I watched Ratatouille. What a great movie. It is fun to see his face light up when the Disney logo pops on the tv. I have always been that way and I love that Jude is the same....now to work on his dad! Happy winter season everyone.

Fires on the horizon....

I have never seen anything like it. Phil, jude, and I were ready to venture out to temecula for our costco run when we changed our minds due to the air quality. I didn't bring my inhaler and you could SEE the air quality. We changed directions for Palm springs to do our shopping there. On our way back up the mountain, all I could see was a line of fires, smoke, and brown-pink skies on the horizon and even closer than that. They were close enough to make out the individual fire cells. Scary.
