I'm guessing this is an attempt to give the impending Chinese scooters and cars a bad rep. Maybe this is to try and overshadow the sick cows being thrown into the food chain by corporate America, but that's another story isn't it?

So this guy bought a scooter, registered it, then the DMV sent him a letter saying that they want their title back. Of course he wouldn't have to register it at all if it was under 50cc. Where did our reporter get his facts that a 125cc four stroke put out x-ma... read more 40 Years Road Trip Funny how I feel old, but don't feel bad about it. I turned 40 on Saturday. Birthday cards and well wishers have used the word middle aged. For my own part I feel like I've been on borrowed time since I turned 30, I think anyone that knows me would say that I've lived the width of my life and not just the length of it. Through all the whacked adventures I've had over the years I've got plenty of standard issue regrets, stupid things I've said, roads left untraveled, ... read more
Another verse in the saga of transportation-as-bonsai. A piece of the clutch linkage broke. I went to Kragen on the outside chance they might have it, then to Pep boys when they didn't. The puke at the parts counter followed the directory to "clutch parts" in asking me my year/make/model etc. instead of clutch/linkages/make/model so surely there was only clutch plates and throw out bearings. Just in case there was a shortage of under truck photography, I set myself today to tackle the brake lights on the van, I'll stifle the urge to post more photos of the continuing duct tape and romex removal, and just show you the beautifully patinized (rusted) brake, throttle, clutch and shifter linkages. Essentially I've got all the wiring right, I just have to wait for another day to tackle the actual switch. replacement/fabrication.

As I understand it there was a huge, very heavy handed, move to stop the Folsom Street Fair this year, most of the big names weren't there, and most of the attendees were the more A list hardcore types. Not a lot of sales but it was cool getting to meet some of the independent craftspeople. Personally I think it could only help if the fair became more independent(artsy? Burning Man?)
