about me
I'm married with a stepson (grown) and stepdaughter (almost 18). I love spending time with my family and friends, as well as just quietly by myself sometimes. I love cooking, crafting, reading, and many other activities. I love being outdoors in nice weather and traveling (though I can't often afford it) is a great joy to myself and my husband.

I just found out this week that I won't be able to take Duncan with me to my sister's house. They already have a dog, and her husband is concerned about liability issues with a second dog - and I'm sure because Duncan is mixed with pit, and therefore discriminated against. The people in their neighborhood are pissy, and would not hesitate to sue if Duncan got off of his leash and came at them. Though the likelihood is very slim this would happen and even slimmer that he'd ever hurt anyone...

Well, she didn't have wings, but she gave me some amazing information. We talked of disabilities, and fighting with Social Security, and trying to afford food. It was then that she gave me some information about making food more afordable. She told me about Angel Food Ministries. An organization that helps people afford food - with no qualifications needed. The food is restaurant quality, and the average box of food is around $30, made to feed a family of four for about a week, and is wo...

It was another great Friday with my sister. She helped me out again by cleaning - this time only the main things, so it wasn't so bad for her. I so appreciate it. My baby niece was a doll again - she has a way of baby-talking that sounds like a real language - hard to describe, but it is so funny. Some things she says you can kind of tell what she is trying to say.

I discovered a "new" bus route today that allowed me to run a couple of errands in one trip. I was able to go to the mall, sell a few books (only got $2.50, but I was done with them anyway), and hit a food store in one loop. The mall and Half Price Books are across the street from each other, but taking the different route sent me past the Aldi store that I needed to get some things from for the party on Saturday. It was nice to do something in almost the same amount of time it would have ...

I can't believe it's Labor Day already. I hate the thought of winter looming so closely ahead. The weather has been so unusually cool here this summer that it seems like we've hardly had a summer. I dread being shut in for winter - I can only hope that it will be a mild one with warmer temps and little snow. My dad told me that El Nino is supposed to ensure just that type of winter, but I'm not counting on anything - only hoping and praying. I also hope it's mild so the energy bill doesn...

I could agree, but I've seen dogs (sometimes even mine) who turn their noses up at the "good" stuff and beg for the "cheap" stuff. I think mine just like slumming it sometimes - or d... read more discussion post on Thu, November 19, 2009 - 1:37 PM

First of all, I'm glad you had such a great time, Jenn. The place sounds really neat - wish I was closer and could visit there myself.

My sister's dog (though mixed with something else...some sort of spaniel, I think) "talks" sometimes. If she's looking for a treat, she can sound like a pirate or sing (which is simply a less annoying and trained way of whining). I've not seen i...
