but why is the salsa gone?
So there is a salmonella outbreak in red roma tomatoes. Everything tomato related is now not worth the risk of selling. Why are they pulling green salsa off the market? I mean, its not made from tomatoes--its tomatillos. It is heavily processed and produced here in California--which is listed as one of the sources that has not been implicated in this mess.I asked today and was told, "Its not worth the risk."
My reply was, "I'll risk it, can I have some?"
"No, we can't get it, the suppliers refuse to sell it to us--they just shut down completely until this blows over"
Two more days of work
only a couple more days till I head back up north.I have 2 weeks that I can spend in Canada. Yay.

I don't like the fact that tribe requires a subject line for my ramblings
Life has continued to be busy, but good. Thanksgiving break was exactly what I needed.I spent thanksgiving itself carving jade and getting drunk with housemates. That weekend I got to see Jess--who is no longer on tribe and thus I can talk about her all I want ;-). And oddly enough, there are only a couple of people on my friend's list here who know her. For anyone who doesn't know--Jess is my ex that I dated officially for 3.5 years. We had an awesome day hanging out in santa cruz and whatnot.
For me its amazing just how much we have changed in the 2 years we haven't been dating. I don't know if its just glorifying things or if we really are better suited to eachother now than we were. The only thing we know for certain is that officially dating again would be a huge mistake.
I need to start practicing telling people, "No, I don't have time/don't want to make _____ for you." In reality, I keep taking on new projects and finding that I don't have time for anything.
Great start of the day
Someone went up into my driveway, smashed in my window and stole my longboard. I hate living in a city. Yes, I do consider Davis a city--because it is. It may not be a super uber city of doom, but it is still a city and I'm really tired of people trying to tell me davis is a town.Back home there was never a worry about removing keys from the ignition, let alone locking doors. The only time we ever locked the door to our house somebody broke in and that was only to call 911 on his invisible "friends" who were trying to kill him. (really bad trip). Back home the sheriff actually cared if something happened. Here, I didn't even bother calling the cops because they wouldn't do anything and can't do anything.
life is awesome
Yesterday I had a nasty day at work dealing with cleaning the freezer... imagine a huge puddle of blood under the floor that has been at room temp for the past week in an enclosed space... they gave me a respirator and a mop with some quatrinary amonia... fun. Then I went straight to "the Buzz" (a welcoming thing for UCD students) I was hired to do henna tattoos...
I had fun because the people who wait in line to get henna tattoos tend to be girls(mostly cute girls) and guys with a sense of humor. Even if it was fun drawing on people, after 5 hours of rushing thru lots and lots and lots of henna tattoos, i was tired...
So then I went straight from there to a party.... because after not sleeping well the night before, all i needed for my long day was to finish it off with a party. Yay
This morning my roommate woke me up to offer me a artichoke heart, grilled onion and provalone omlet.
then hop in the car and visit a friend in santa rosa... we played at the beach. N and I were the only people crazy enough to go play in the ocean. I'm a yeti and she is just wonderfully insane. It was great, exactly what i've been needing for a while. We then hit up a great seafood place and got super awesome clam chowder goodness and calamari.
Now i'm playing on stolen internets while the others are playing video games. At least i'm not in davis for once.
dental burs
I've been carving like a fiend. Assuming fiends carve. Anyway, I went to the dentist today. While I was there, I asked him some basic bur questions(cleaning, brands...) He got very excited and gave me a nice set of burs. He buys them in bulk, but this set still must have cost him close to $90. It would cost me much much more.I also got some free samples from bur companies... Now I just need to figure out what I want to carve tonight.
