Funny how things change. *grin*
Work: For those that do not know, I quit working for the Sheriff's Office back in March. I certainly loved my job, and when I tranferred back to Santa Rita I had an excellent crew to work with in my inmate housing unit. There were four of us; me and three deputies who worked together like a well-oiled machine. That wasn't the problem. The problem was when my work decided that my schooling was no longer a "justifiable goal" in their eyes. They are the ones that drew the line in the sand -- work or school. Boy were they surprised... Now I am working for two major companies: Borders and Starbucks. After working in public service and private sector work I totally forgot just how fun these kinds of jobs are. I have to confess, I love them both. (Too bad they don't pay for spit, eh?)
School: But even that shall pass, meaning the work situation. School isn't too far off from that either -- isn't that spectacular?! My mantra has moved from "8 more months..." to "3 more months... just 3!" Graduation date looks to be late September, and I'm still a Magna Cum Lauda (4.0 gpa) which will be stunning for the military. Speaking of the military, my AFOQT (Air Force Officer Qualifying Test) is scheduled for late August. For once, everything is on course. And it makes me smile.
Me, In General: When school and work became the main focus, I had to give up some things very near and dear to me. Primarily it was my social life. Many of you have accused me of becoming a hermit -- seriously, it wasn't intentional this time. I honestly need a 36 hour day to do everything I need to do. Since the planetary rotation has not obliged my demand I'm kinda stuck until things finish. Sorry.
Another was my exercise regimen -- that simply broke my heart. Not only did it reduce my stress but it gave me me time to clear my head, I felt better, and it kept me in an athletic state which is necessary for the career I have chosen. Over the last two years a portion of the weight has come back on, and that has seriously irritated the frak out of me. But with my recent change of employment I actually get to work out now! Yay! So I'm (nearly) back to square one but I think I'm happiest sweating it out with a cardio heartrate of 150. Man, I missed it so much.
Oh, and I have moved. Sorta. My new home is in Vacaville. I moved into a better place with my own bathroom and a better rent rate (free!); my new roomie is awesome. I'm currently split between the pad in San Ramon and Vacaville because my computer is still in San Ramon -- I own virtually NO furniture, a desk is a necessity, and driving has become my biggest time eater. I'm currently attending the DVC summer session in Pleasant Hill so even though there is little traffic on my route it is just bloody far. That's my biggest gripe about the whole thing... drive, drive, drive. *laughs* I'd rather be sleeping.
Last but not least, I'd like to do a Decatur meeting soon (meaning July): I miss you guys. *pout* I had originally sent a quick message calling for something on July 1st, but I really think this is too short for proper notice. Is anyone inclined for something on July 15th or the 22nd? I'm thinking something around 2pm (as usual) on either Saturday. We can bbq it out in the small park in San Ramon, or we can be totally lazy and go to the Regal IMAX in Dublin and make them do the cooking while we chill in the AC. I'm open to suggestions, so drop me some feedback.
As you can see, I'm still alive. And I love you. *smooch*
Yours truly,
Celeste
