<div>Looking for something entertaining to do Saturday night?
From 7 to 9 pm at the African American Performing arts center (San Pedro &amp; Copper) on the West side of the Fair Grounds there will be a Belly Dance Show featuring Albuquerque Belly Dance studios &amp; teachers. Each Studio is given sin minutes to strut their stuff, so it will appeal to event the shortest attention span. All proceeds to benefit the Isshin Ryn Club, a local martial arts studio that works with at-risk kids.
My studio (Virgo) will be there with a rollicking steam-punk Carnival (as in carnies not the Brazilian kind) group number, more traditional styles of Middle Eastern &amp; North African dance will be represented as well. If you have ever been curios about what is our there in our very diverse community of dance, this is a great chance to see local teachers strut their stuff. Information on all of the performers will be included in the programs.
I have tickets &amp; you can get them at the door $10 general, $5 students and seniors.
See you there!

ribbon and chainette fringe source in Albuquerque

<div>I just found a chainette fringe source in Albuquerque, they have many
colors and several lengths, all at about $3 a yard, and a limited
selection of beaded fringe. They also carry ribbons, lace and trims
on rolls for yards for the dollar. There are fabric flowers, feathers
(including many dyed ostrich)and they can order specialty fabrics and
are local and nice people as well.

It is Called Bessie's Gift shop (she is fourth generation S Valley)
although you should look for the words "lace and ribbon" on the sign.
121 Old S. Coors SW, South of Central W. in the S. Valley.
(505) 831 6189

This is a great old-fashioned place where everything is on rolls and
someone helps you and cuts for you . . . plus there is a great bakery
with the best sweet breads (the flour/sugar kind not the icky kind)
just next door.

They are open on Weekends, call for exact hours.</div>

<div>Dear Blake’s Lotaburger
As a result of the action of Brian Rule* I shall no longer patronize your establishments, and will encourage all my acquaintance and all of the persons I can reach on my online blogs to stay away also. This pains me as I live less than ¼ mile from one of your restaurants and have been a regular customer there and enjoyed waling to the restaurant and eating with my family. Nonetheless, I cannot support a business that can be party to such hateful actions as trying to keep persons in love from the joy and sanctity of marriage. Freedom of religion is freedom FROM the dogma of one religion over all!

I am ashamed of you all and will not return to your restaurants till you publicly condemn this action and show that your organization is not the bigoted and hateful Mr. Rule has made you seem.

Lotaburger had been for eighteen years my hamburger of choice, no longer!

<div>I can only hope that Obama spends his first 300 days removing all evidence of W (a traitor who should be out under the corn field) he will enter office with unprecedented power thanks to W and his owners criminal behavior, before righting it he should undo what they have done and put them in chains while taking all of their personal assets. He could because of W's administration, and he should, right before he returns us to a state of democracy . . . but I am sure the traitors are not afraid, after all it is only the republicans of the last 40 years who act in such a manner.
Republicans, take back your party, no more robber barons who hide behind a religion they obviously don't believe in.

<div>I was talking to a friend today and the question came up "why is it that rather than just do nice things that make the world better, people tend to do nasty ill-thought things that only make trouble?"

My take, cause we are all human. Rather than think and act with intent, often we let our emotions get the better of us and react to outside stimulus rather than initiate actions that are in keeping with our desires and morals.

But the line between logical and calculating can be a very thin one, I think of 'calculating' as being when we come up with reasons to justify an action, where as being logical is being truthful both about what we desire to be the case and what the real outcome of our actions will be.

Believing this, I also am always aware that I can and often are - wrong. Disconcerting, usually is it a combination of correct partly, but having an assumption in there that is false and so messing up the whole thing.

Here is an old example, a friend lets me down. She does it in a way that is in keeping with let us say, her more obvious faults. In this case; agreeing to do something in exchange for something else, and then when her turn comes, not keeping her part of the bargain. Not such a good friend, but the problem comes when trying to understand the 'why' of it. Knowing someone else's perspective is difficult at best, but I do know that no one ever casts themselves in the role of 'bad guy' everyone thinks (at least at the time) that they are right.

So, where does one go from here? Do you try to seek out the person and give them the other cheek to strike? Or perhaps better to take the lesson and move on? The sad thing in this case is I had been warned not to trust this person, by many people in my community, and I had seen her behave badly, but wanted her to be the nice person I hoped she was, in this case, a person of advanced years that many people warned me off . . . well perhaps I ought to listened to the majority.

It was a lesson in letting people be who they are, and not doing them the disservice to want them otherwise no matter how much one may think they are lacking . . . if you expect someone to act as they do, well they don't disappoint do they?

In taking this lesson and acting accordingly, I have not gone to the same old events - that were by all reports rather limp, and have instead spent my time and money on new events and had a MUCH better time than I have had in years. In fact I have spent more time getting PAID and less PAYING for my fun!
So, spring cleaning, keep that which pleases, and throw out the old worn-out stuff!

<div>It was major fun to get to dance on the Kimo stage all by my lonesome, got to be in the big girls dressing room, had the time of my life. Danced with wings and veil, very pleasing! Now I have worn this costume three times and can sell it.</div>

Sanity happens

<div>Every once in a while, I realize just how crazy I can be. Usually it happens in a moment of pure sanity, tonight sitting with friends in a great restaurant, everyone jolly, no one whining or being a bore. Then it hit me, how many times this past year I could have had just that sort of evening, but did not because of silliness. The year before, double that . . .

I think we loose track of what matters, who are ideal selves are, and if you aren't your ideal self, who are you? Easy, someone you don't want to be. So whatever it was that was so upsetting (probably because it was totally your own fault) let it go, let the past be over, a swell time is waiting around the corer if only you would let it.

Happy New Year</div>

<div>So we are having a little party for her, pot luck with some dancing in
the studio. All who know Christine (or are just curious as to what we
did to Teri's old house and studio) are welcome. 6-10pm.
Write me personally if you don't know where the house/studio is. This
will be a very casual affair so feel most welcome to just drop by.

<div>This is my 80"s bedlah, the colors I think speak for the name. I have already made a stretch velvet (black) draped shirt that has glitter in the same colors as the bedlah, as well as some gauntlets. I hope to wear it at the Post-holiday hafla in a couple a of weeks, this is two days (one working hard one not) work.

<div>Halloween was nice, we did not get as many kids as in the heights, but the house looked nice and spooky, we used the studio lights (just the colored side lights) and it looked great . . . danced at the Med Cafe' and also at Hoonab Hooka with friends, and did . . . . other stuff can't remember.
Got to get off this "getting old" kick, it really -is- making me old!</div>
