I reached the market square after climbing through winding mountains leaving Antigua. The Market is busy busy busy even on a Friday, which is not one of the two main market days, Thursday and Sunday. Then the decent through these same mountain ranges winds down.... the first peek of Lake Atitlan. Many days here and you begin to love and hate San Pedro, but today... today was the day to kayak. I set out about 4.45pm 200 meters from my Hotel and began the steady move to the center of this lake....

Every place is different. The old city centers and places the dwelling zones for the street children and poor street folk. Poverty is evident. The eyes of the people are aged past the easy times seen in richer western countries. The face, skin and experience is worn down, perhaps its the sun, or the daily labors, or familial factors.
