My Blog

So, did anyone go out and buy an iPhone this weekend?

Those iPhones are just so cool. Having been a Mac head since the early '90s, I've loved nearly everything Apple has put out. I haven't bought one, though. We don't get good service w/AT&T out in our neck of the woods, so it would be a waste of $$.

I put a big picture of our jubilation lilies on this blog - they've turned into big mutant lilies this year as there is anywhere from 15-25 blossoms per stalk. The plants grew almost taller than I am this year. I think in the next couple of years, I might have to stake them more properly than just using the big green plant ring I've been using the last couple of years.

We've been keeping busy here - we celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary earlier this month. We've been setting up a salt-water reef tank as well - it's in the middle of cycling through, so no fishies yet. We do have some hermit crabs, snails, and live rock going thus far. Eventually, we will get some corals, possibly an anemone, and some clown fish. We can't put too much in the tank fish-wise as it's only a 35-gallon tank.

Might be in a parade next month - I'm not performing @ Med-Fest this month, but I just might do the parade. Other than that, I'm religiously going to Cardio Kickbox (75 minutes' worth 3 times/week) hoping to lose the last little bit of weight.......

Hope everyone is out there enjoying their summer!

Sasha's Hard Life

Doesn't she just look exhausted? I'll be damned if I know what she did today other than to chase a squirrel or two out of the bird feeder, but she had that look on her face like she was plumb tuckered out.

Nature & Sundry

This morning, it was a black-capped chickadee who landed on the deck rail next to me, to let me know I needed to put out the bird feeder. Twice in the last week, it's been a nuthatch who lands near me, "beep-beeps" a few times, looks right at me, and then flies off. I've had so many newer varieties of birds this year than I have previously. Before, it was mostly chickadees and junkos. Now I have the nuthatches, the grosbeaks, a sapsucker or two, etc. I have to bring the bird feeder in every evening because of the black bear that roams around our property from time to time. They like bird seed too.

I've finally compiled my list of what plants hummingbirds like, from direct observation. They are hitting the hummingbird feeder (4 parts water to 1 part sugar) on a regular basis, but they also visit the following plants:
fuschias
ivy geraniums (not the normal geraniums)
bleeding hearts
petunias
honeysuckle

And if you are wanting to attract bumblebees, get yourself a Spanish lavender. I have a four-year-old Spanish lavender on the deck that went bananas this year, and there's always at least 10 bees working on it at any given time. I might have to move him off the deck for fear of getting stung!

I think I'm finally over the cold that I caught from hubby this week. It's about time! Nothing's more miserable than snorting around and feeling like your head is going to explode! We were barely home through the month of May - I feel like I've lost a month - and I haven't been able to get to kickbox or belly dance in that month. We were either gone or we were home, but my car was out of commission - finally got the car issue fixed.

Welcome to June, everyone!

Nut Hatch!

I finally identified the little birds that have been getting into the bird feeder. They looked like chickadees because they had stripes along their heads, but their bills were longer, the birds' heads were longer, and they were smaller and longer than chickadees. It was driving me bananas and kumquats! One has even taken to landing on the deck if I am outside - comes right up to me, beeps a few times, looks at me, and then flies off. He's done this twice now. I got out the bird book again and went hunting - they are red-breasted nuthatches! I had never seen them before. They sure like the bird feeder. We also have black-headed grosbeaks getting into the feeder, and I saw a sap sucker on the bay window side yesterday, trying to figure out how to get into the feeder. It's a real wild party out there right now. Lots of birds and all taking turns into the feeder. I'm glad I remembered to buy more bird seed today.

Name change

Well, I tried on the Hanabi hat for a while, but it's just not working. When I first started out belly dancing, I had two names - Chandara or Hanabi. I think Hanabi should have fitted me more as it is the Kanji word for "fire flower" - their word for fireworks. That works really well with my red hair; however, Chandara is what I originally used, and I think it is a pretty word, so as soon as I can figure out how to change my name here on Tribe, I'll be Chandara again :)

That shirt gets around.....

It's a warning to you all never to take a picture of something you bought at a store <G> I had bought this shirt @ Fred Meyer's, and I took a photo of it to send to a few of my friends. It wasn't even ON me at that time - just lying across the bed. Soon after, I get an e-mail from my friend 'Mara saying she wanted me to buy her that shirt and she would pay me back. Just so happens that 'Mara's birthday was right around the corner, so I trekked back to Issaquah and bought her a shirt.

A few days later, my friend Claudette e-mailed me and said she had to have that shirt. What is up with that? TWO PEOPLE? Again, it just so happens that her birthday was about a month away, so there I am, driving back to Issaquah for yet another one of those shirts.

I made everyone take a picture of themselves in that shirt and pasted it together. From left to right, Claudette in Arizona, me, and 'Mara from Texas. We totally rock that shirt! LOL!

Houston, we have a little problem

I noticed in class last night that one of my favorite cholis, no matter how tight I cinched it in the back, did very little to keep it in place. It tried to move around, and threatened to let all "hell" break loose from time to time. I know I hadn't worn the choli in a while, but I was still boggled as to what was going on until I got busy this morning and measured around my ribs just under my breasts. I've went from a 36-D to nearly a 34-D - gee, there's yer problem!

I had noticed that some of my bras were shuffling around under my clothes, but I really didn't give it that much thought other than to make a mental note to myself that I probably needed to cinch up the shoulder straps as they can tend to move around after being washed....

So, if you're a 36-D, keep an eye on my profile in the next couple of days. I am going to go through all of my cholis and see what still fits and what doesn't and post pictures of goodies that have to go to new homes. :::sob::::

NOTE: Someone has already contacted me and is grabbing nearly every choli that's too big on moi. YAY! Going to a good home!

MONDAY - P.S.S.: It ain't just my rib cage. I measured my hips tonight to order a pair of pants, and my hips have gone down an inch and 1/2. I just can't get over this. ..........

Yummy!

What a fabulous Friday I had. Not only did my whole set of silky yummies arrive from A'Kai Silks (thank you, Jes!), but my mother-in-law agreed to stay an extra week so me and hubby can have a "date night" down in Portland on March 7th - Craig Ferguson is doing a gig at the Aladdin Theater, and we're going to be there! Hoooray!!!! Of course, I bought tickets before I realized that our puppy dog did not have a sitter that evening (my bad!) Thankfully, hubby's mom is going to keep an eye on our baby while we're gone.

My early birthday present to myself. Can't get enough of Craig!
