Open Head, Pour Out Mind
Moral Hygiene and Moral Decay
Fri, March 14, 2008 - 1:42 PMSo here is your six month moral checkup:
Do you drive exactly the same way when there are no police around as you do when there are?
When your sig other, (spouse , boyfriend/girlfriend is not around, (add plural if you are poly,) do you do things that would bring about the end of the relationship(s) if you were caught?
Are you kinder to people when someone you look up to is watching, (such as guru, minister, preacher, boss, professor, mentor, priest or priestess.)
Do you tell children and subordinates to do as you say, not as you do?
If your dearly departed grandmother were looking over your shoulder, would she be clucking her tongue and shaking her head?
Poor Eliot. If he had been taking care of his moral hygiene, none of this would have happened.

I was taught by my mother....
> Do you drive exactly the same way when there are no police around as you do when there are?
Yes. > When your sig other, do you do things that would bring about the end of the relationship(s) if you were caught? No. > Are you kinder to people when someone you look up to is watching, (such as guru, minister, preacher, boss, professor, mentor, priest or priestess.) I am kind to all. > Do you tell children and subordinates to do as you say, not as you do? Never. > If your dearly departed grandmother were looking over your shoulder, would she be clucking her tongue and shaking her head? No. |

I do drive differently when the police are watching... or when I'm at a corner where the Big Brother cameras are snapping pictures of everyone who gunned it just as the amber light was turning, um, pink...
Seriously, if I'm at a red light at 4:00 in the morning and there are no headlights visible in any of four directions, I don't wait for it to turn green. I figure that one car does not "traffic" make, so "traffic lights" are kinda moot if there's nothing to regulate. Traffic laws should not be a source of income for municipalities. Otherwise, I'm pretty congruent. I have no control over how much of a prude or a libertine my grandmother was--either one of them. Congruence is really an important standard for me, a veritable goal toward which I strive. I don't wanna be a marble cake when I get done baking... |

I like to fantasize that grandmothers get over their prudishness and become enlightened and understanding when they cross over.
