Chew toy. China... Try Awesome, rad or just plain nice. All things that you could call this marvelously unique individual. Aside from being there when I had a very low period in my own life, she taught me many things about life, the universe and everything. Long Beach was a blast in every way and it's one of those things that will remain locked in memory forever. So here's my tankard raised high to you ma'am.

Ah my little china-doll... this girl has so much love in her heart to give that she doesn't seem to have anywhere near enough outlets to express it all. She's one of the sweetest people I know. Generous to a fault... and always ready to lend you the shirt off her back. She'll ask for little in return for all her generosity - only that you be her friend - love her back - and if you give her any grief... she'll be the first to slap ya down & put ya in your place... HARD. (But then again - maybe some of us like that. *smiles*)

Wow, seems like it's been a while since I properly updated with my life. Things have been moving forward. It feels hard a lot of the time, but that's to be expected. It's life.

I've been keeping my mouth shut because I didn't want to jinx things. J and I have been looking for a house since before October. We have been under contract three or four times, each time, it fell through due to horrible sales agents. I'd even gotten to the point where being under contract didn't mean that much to m... read more
My dad called this morning. He is a Vietnam Vet. He served '67 to '69. He was sent in to help rescue hostages at the Embassy during the Tet Offensive. He is 1 of 17 survivors from the assault on Nui Bah Dinh, the Black Virgin Mountain.

He called not to relate these stories I have grown up with, but to talk to me about Henry Lee Bradshaw. A man he called friend, a man he lost in 'Nam. A couple of years ago, I got my father a book about Vietnam. He has always read them and I didn't ... read more
As pangeaprogress said on Youtube, "I hope people can see the difference between the Obama grassroots of hope and the McCain/Palin mob that is full of fear and ignorant anger. "

Yesterday, I was at the library with one of my students, a 9 yr old girl. As we walked in, to our left, the room was bustling like she had never seen. She turns to me and asks, "What's going on in there?"

I turn to her and ask, "Do you really want to know? Let's go in." It was the early voting poll the day before they were moving elsewhere. I was already planning on voting, but this was the perfect opportunity to teach her something not in her books yet. We walk in and I explain ... read more
Tonight, my husband showed me an article printed in Dallas about a statement made by one of McCain's advisors.

www.dallasnews.com/sharedco...e428.html After reading it, I was so mad I was driven to write a comment on the newspaper's page. Please excuse me if I seem less than thrilled that an advisor for a presidential candidate in 2008 would have the gall to make such a statement. "So I have a solution. And i... read more
