It looks like my lack of healing is because my body does not like the mesh implant intended to keep my guts where they belong. The bad news is that the mesh & kevlar stuff will have to be removed (another surgery). The good news is that the surgeon thinks he can bring by abdominal muscles back together (He could not do that in the previous hernia surgery because of the wild and free roaming intestines that were sloshing around.) So I could end up looking a little more normal except for the colostomy bag and some very nasty scars. A small thing.

Please - no prayers. Good thoughts and positive energy are fine but please do not alert your gods to my case. I don't think they like me much and the feeling is mutual. I can think of better things to do with my time than getting cut up again and suffering through yet another recouperation. If this one works, however, the healing should be more rapid and, hopefully, I will be more portable as a result. I really do want to get back up to Seattle - for several reasons - but more about that later. For some reason I am not that upset over this. You have to have a sense of humor and I find the situation to be silly in a MontyPythonish sort of way. It really doesn't seem to be life threatening and at the same time my body is going through a rage against the machine thing. May be my body is a closet Ludite or my immune system is actually working better than expected. My intestines are probably holding up signs against foreign bodies. Colin
