Late thought on the State of the Union

I know I'm a bit late with blogging on this topic, but did anyone see Bush's State of the Union Address? Being that I find the man most abhorant, I chose to read about it instead of siting through an excruciating speech from this countries' biggest dumb-ass. Once again he told this country to be patient with the war in Iraq, claiming that there has been signs of improvement. He also talked about cutting government spending on various programs that he deems unnecessary. However, the most unnecessary government program that uses up the bulk of our funds just happens to be our foreign policy. With military bases in Europe, Japan, the Middle East and elsewhere, just imagine the amount of money this uses up and how imperialist we look to the rest of the world. We have no right to occupy any country without the support of that countries people, and we certainly have no right to be there without the support of the U.N. It's common knowledge that the U. S. spends more on its military than the next eight welthiest nations combined, and it's also known that our military spending is more than any of our other government programs combined. Fifteen percent of the pentagon's budget could give every U.S. citizen Universal Health Coverage, imagine how much could also be spent on public education and renewable energy. March 23 will mark 5 years since we invaded Iraq, and by the U.N.'s definition Mr. Bush is a criminal of war. How can we remain patient with everything that's happened since the invasion(Abu Garab, 4,000 troops dead, over 60,000 Iraqi civillians dead); I fully agree with Dennis Kucinich that Cheney should be impeached, and Bush should follow. At least we can rest assured that this is W's last State of the Union Address. Mark your calenders for 1/20/09!
