about me
I like people very much and enjoy communicating with them. Through communication we can come to better understand one another and more fully enjoy our shared existence. I find just about everyone interesting and worth getting to know better. I work hard at two jobs I enjoy very much, but I don't get a lot of time off. I take trapeze classes as a hobby (it's great fun!) and have had a couple of opportunities to perform.

That's What I'm Talking About

Re: S19 - EPISODE 10 ~ (spoiler warning) (in Survivor Or Bust) I think Russell is getting more likable partly because of his appearance. He looks better with a beard and having lost some weight. He looks more human and less trollish, I guess. And he's keeping the game interesting, that's for sure. But I still... read more

An Occasional Blog

I'm back from the camping vacation, and hopefully will have a picture or two to post soon.

It was a wonderful trip! The creek was very low when we got there. The campground was less than half full which is usual, from what I remember from the three other times I've been there. It was beautiful. The first couple days there I was enthralled, even with the low water level. Then it started raining. We welcomed the rain because I could tell the plants and wildlife needed it. The threat of rain was present for one day so we stayed close to camp just in case, then the next day it literally rained all day, which is a bit unusual in the Sierras in the summer. But our makeshift shelter was adequate (we didn't have a tent) and we played Yahtzee to pass the time, boiled water for soup and coffee and had a relaxing day and most of the other campers left the campground due to rain.

Then the next day we were rewarded with a shining forest, trails with no dust and a creek that had doubled in size! It was wonderful! The trails stayed dust free for two days. We went on a long hike, 9 miles with an elevation gain of 1500 feet, up to a beautiful mountain lake 4 miles from any road. The whole week was just heaven. And I feel like I have a secret place to go to every summer if I want. A free campground on the edge of the Ansel Adams Wilderness, a beautiful creek with swimming holes accessible by any car. Next year we'll invite our friends when we go. We found an even better campsite on the last day that would support numerous tents (or car sleepers like us), that is at the best swimming spot on the creek with huge granite boulders with the creek rushing along, flat granite rocks to lat out on, some shade if you want it, and mucho privacy! (Yes we made good use of that, too!)

Thanks, all of you, for your well wishes. Yes, it's so true, I need to take time off now and then! After all, I'm only human.

And camping is a great way to get in touch with one's human side!

What is on your bed right now?
Blankets, sheets, pillows.

When was the last time you threw up?
Years ago, I don't remember fully, I had had too much to drink.

What's your favorite word or phrase?
I don't have a favorite word or phrase.

Name 3 people who made you smile today?
It's early in the day for me, however most people I like put a smile on my face whenever I think of them. The three today are: my boyfriend who is here right now, when I woke up he said good morning to me and I smiled, and Loki's blog today thanking everyone for their replies to his earlier entry, and Tedster because I just read his answers to this quiz. :-)

What were you doing at 8 am this morning?
Sleeping.

What were you doing 30 minutes ago?
Washing the dishes.

What is your favorite holiday?
When I lived in the South it was Mardi Gras. Otherwise I'm not partial to any holiday. I rarely celebrate any of them.

Have you ever been to another country?
Yes, quite a few. I even lived in another country, India, for over 2 years.

What is the last thing you said aloud?
"I'm awake now, you can make noise."

What is the best ice cream flavor?
Coconut ice cream made with coconut milk (no dairy).

What was the last thing you had to drink?
Coffee.

What are you wearing right now?
Sweatpants, tee shirt, sweatshirt.

What was the last thing you ate?
Cereal, last night.

Have you bought any new clothing items this week?
No.

When was the last time you ran?
Yesterday, I did laps around the gym as a warm up before the aerial class.

What's the last sporting event you watched?
It's been ages so I don't remember. Obviously I don't watch sports on TV or go to games.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
India.

Who is the last person you sent a comment/message on tribe?
Torroid.

Ever go camping?
Yes, often, in my earlier life. Less often lately.

Do you have a tan?
No.

Have you ever lost anything down a toilet?
No.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Food. I should eat less than I have been lately.

Do you use smiley faces on the computer a lot?
I don't think it's a lot, but I do make this face, :-), when appropriate.

Do you drink your soda from a straw?
No.

What did your last text message say?
I don't get text messages. I found I'd never check them so I had it turned off on my phone.

Are you someone's best friend?
No, unless you count my boyfriend.

What are you doing tomorrow?
Work in the late afternoon and evening. My day is open until then, I like having unplanned parts of my days!

Look to your left, what do you see?
A picture of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho) giving my boyfriend Sannyas about 30 years ago.

What color is your watch?
Stainless steal.

What do you think of when you think of Australia?
Interesting people, beautiful coasts, surfers, snorkeling opportunities, desert inlands, government health care.

Ever ridden on a roller coaster?
Yes.

Do you go in at a fast food place or just hit the drive thru?
I don't go to fast food places.

Biggest annoyance in your life right now?
Kids wanting to take the adult style aerial classes. It's up to me to find a solution for this quandary about what to do for these kids. And be able to keep the classes we offer for adults free of small children which the adults and instructor would prefer.

It was a Red Hot Chili Peppers song, I don't know the name, but it plays on the radio sometimes which is where I listened to it, in my car.

Not that I know of.

Do any of your friends have children?
Yes. Once my friends have children I rarely see them anymore, though. When a friend gets pregnant they are so happy, but I get a little sad because I recognize this pattern now. I know I'll rarely, if ever, see them again once they have kids, they just become too preoccupied with raising them.

Do you eat healthy?
Yes, most of the time. I occasionally eat sweets or unhealthy snacks, though.

What do you usually do during the day?
Play on the computer unless I have to go to work right away. Other tasks, too, like hand washing clothes, or doing my boyfriend's bookkeeping.

No.

Not daily, but often enough.

Have you ever been to Six Flags?
Yes, a couple of times in recent years.

How did you get one of your scars?
I had surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. It turned out to be something else, which required more extensive surgery, the scar is on my lower abdomen.

Hope you enjoyed my answers. I find quizzes like this one a fun way to get to know one another a little better here on Tribe. I look forward to reading yours!

I will be performing as one of the flyers in this year's big show, titled 'Coming Soon: Trapeze Arts Goes to the Movies'. Last year's show was dazzling with incredible aerial and circus entertainment and this year promises great acts and incredible talent with some of the same aerial artists and also some new additions.

The benefit show is on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at 7:30 pm. The cost is $20, cash only please, all proceeds going to benefit the young performance troupe Les Aerielles. If you would like to attend, please PM me for the location. It is a show intended for mature audiences, so please leave the children at home for this one!

I'm really looking forward to it!

Hey everyone! I will be performing in the flying trapeze portion of the upcoming show at Trapeze Arts. I'd love it if you can come to watch the show! All the flyers will be doing their tricks without safety lines. And the aerialists performing are talented and wonderful! It is sure to capture your attention and sense of wonder!

The show is at 8 pm on Saturday, December 1st. Arrive at 7:30 for a champagne reception. This is my first performance there in a show that is not just a student demo! Dress up but dress warmly as it is cold inside. Here's your chance to see the circus school that I love, if you are one of those who haven't been there before!

I will be performing the back end planche.
