Fresh has given me more opportunity
to overcome my fear and live my life
in love than probably anyone else.
I Love her deeply, trust her even more.
She shows up big in life, in love, and especially
relationship!
She has a huge amount of courage and I feel
her compassion every day.
I am clear that she will be in my life forever!

You are an amazingly beautiful woman... a pure breath of fresh air... ;-)

My dearest Fresh.... what a Powerhouse of a woman.
For nearly three years I've had the wonderful fortune of sharing friendship, love, and so much more with her... through joy and tears, laughter and bliss. All the while sharing the raw honesty that comes from only the truest of friends.
In this time I've witnessed how she has grown, and prospered, and through her radiance and inner beauty, learned how to be absolutely fuckable wearing only playa.
Love you Fresh.

What a sparkly, earnest, friendly, zippy, and -- dare I say it? -- FRESH human being. Woo!

My father, Donald McHugh, died on Sunday, June 15th - Father's Day. I feel compelled to share some details of how he lived and how he died as a way to remember him to a compassionate audience who really appreciate the value of a life lived in love.
He was a very accomplished man who shaped the insurance industry through his work on the Senate Anti-Trust and Monopoly subcommittee and as the founding General Counsel for State Farm Insurance for whom he worked for 25 years. He loved to play tennis and even though he could barely walk and his dementia made for some pretty creative score keeping he played every week until he died.
He was a wonderful father, with a keen intellect and a great sense of humor. I owe the best of who I am to this wise and compassionate man. He loved his late wife of 47 years, his four children and eight grandchildren very much.
This last Sunday, he went to Mass then out to lunch with his tennis buddies, came home and spoke with all of his kids on the phone. We all had the chance to tell him how much we love him and how grateful we were for all he had given us and he got to tell us how much he loved us, too. Then he had dinner and sat down in his recliner to watch TV. His caregiver saw him suddenly look up, intently, at the ceiling. He then closed his eyes and his head fell to the side. I have no doubt that he was seeing the angels come to carry him home. He died as he lived, peacefully and on his own terms. He was 91 years old.
While I'm grateful for your condolences during this time of great change in my life, I'd rather you joined me in celebration and appreciation of a life well-lived.
In Love,
Christine (Fresh)

Thought you might be interested in seeing world class writer, Dona Budd, in her solo show, Creation's Bitch. I've been developing and directing this piece with Dona for close to a year now and it was a big hit at SF Fringe Festival this last year. Admission is FREE and we hope to see you on Wednesday night.
Creation's Bitch
Performed by
Dona Budd
Developed with and Directed by Christine McHugh
Performing autobiographical monologue, Dona Budd is a mix of William Faulkner, the school smart-ass, and a voraciously curious toddler, with a smattering of Mae West. She finds the world infinitely delicious, her curiosity is blind to convention, and she never saw a rule she didn't want to break. Her performance unfolds a hard-hitting, funny, and untold version of a strange white child growing up in an incomprehensible pre-civil-rights South. With startling combinations, she looks as boldly at the dark side as at the delights-the taste of crayons, a segregated children's matinee. Dona takes you places you've never been.

Well, we survived our first year. Sure we would like to be a little more financially flush then we are but we're still here, dammit! New hotel with no restaurant just opened down the street. Big office complex with 600 plus occupants set to open in a couple of months - we're on the verge of being golden. Until that time however, we could use your love and support and flat out help.
We're in the middle of a huge marketing push to our goal of making some money. Right now we employ five incredible people and serve hundreds great coffee and food Monday thru Friday - 6:30-3:30. We need more customers so we're asking everyone we know to get out the good word. Get on Yelp or Chowhound and write a review, send out an email to all of your friends in the area, come in, either for the first time or to revisit, we love seeing all of you in the cafe.
We're getting fixed to open a booth at the Downtown San Rafael Farmer's Market on Thursday nights and we need lots lots of help to make that happen. With the firm belief that not asking is an automatic "No" here's a wish list of things that would help...
Two large (100 cups) hot water urns
Folding conference table's (6 ft. long)
Vinyl banners
Graphic design help for banners and marketing flyers
uhmmm, cash (gifts, investors we're open to all ideas)
Curtis said when I asked him if he knew anything about running a cafe, "I just beat cancer, how hard can a cafe be?" O' hubris. What a nasty bite you have! The truth is now, "I own a cafe, how hard could beating cancer be?" It's taken more courage, faith and elbow grease than has ever been required of either of us before but we're doing it. With your love and support we hope to be doing it for many years to come.
Thanks.

This is the transcript of a song that my eight year old niece with Down's Syndrome freestyled with her musical therapist (Mrs. Lentz). I don't think I've ever read anything that so completely captured the unfettered joy for life to which I aspire.
Very Much You Can Know Yourself
by Cara
I came out to check the mail then I go to my house I am interested in seeing you. Oh, I see my driveway and my oh my it’s great to be. I am me and myself all day. Take me out. It’s really great to be in my house all day. The is a superdupersuper dupersuperdupersuperduper long song. Isn’t it great to laugh? I am singing, I sometimes want to be by myself in an attic with a scary monster, but I long to see my parents. Then I am yeah, I am fast, and I am not to be myself every day. Yeah real. Very much you can know yourself. When I ride in the car I like it. Take me to see my Nana and my Papa. I love to be all by myself. It’s so great to be by myself the whole day long. I have a dog and an airplane, but it’s fun to be with my dog, so let me go. It’s silly, but I want to be funny. Then I’ll go with a shoehorn on my head. Then I’ll go on trips with my mom and with my shoehorn and it’s so great to laugh and play, to be me and to sing all day and so laugh every morning! There, yeah with my shoehorn and I’m gonna eat the shoehorn then I am by myself. It’s great to be by myself in my room every day to play with my mom and my sister. And so every morning by myself I’ll eat the shoehorn. Then I’ll get up yeah great and I’ve got bad habits. I’m gonna poop in the bathtub and it’s great to be me. The great adventure, the pumpkinhead and I am going to listen to the radio in my head and I’m going to eat everything in my house and so I am – I’m gonna eat my clothes and I’m gonna eat the radio and so I am going to wash my clothes and drop paint on the wall and wash it of with Mrs. Lentz. Mrs. Lentz is my best pal and I’m gonna eat my toys every day and the lights and my bed. And so I am by myself. I’m gonna eat my water.
The End.

At our little restaurant, The Bay Cafe, in less then six months. Now that's a lot of 3 & 6 dollar items! If you haven't been you must drop in. If you have been, then you know and will come back. Yesterday we had an impromptu burner gathering when about eight of our friends all descended at the same time for their morning coffee and fresh baked muffins. What a wonderful little clubhouse for all our Burning Man friends.
Can't wait to see you and serve you up a cup of Philz coffee.
