Sunday and The Rain

Okay, it isn't raining a lot, but what is cool is that we sit here and look out our window looking over the ocean and we can see it coming.... Watching the rain pour out of the clouds into the ocean as it gets nearer and nearer to our house.... Watching as the blue water turns to gray and then slides from site under the clouds and raindrops..... The rains slowly starts to hit our window and patter on the roof,,,, it gets harder and darker,,,, then it starts to beat down and we love the way that it sounds and the freshness that it brings to the air..... Then we watch it as the clouds leave and pass us over as the sun returns and the ocean blue expands... The birds start to sing, Kajira is working on TF and all is well with the world........

I Love You......

Kajira and I say "I Love You" a lot, when the mood strikes us, one of us can be doing the dishes, and yell upstaire to the other "I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU".... My parents didn't say it, al least I don't remember hearing it. Does it mean less when you say it more? Do you take it for granted when you hear it. Does it make your heart flutter less? We just talked about it, we don't think so, maybe sometimes we take it for granted, but it still means a lot and makes us both fell "warm and fuzzy" when the other says it. We say it to Noelle (our daughter) when we get done talking on the phone, because we do mean it and we miss her. Do actions speak louder than words? In this case, no. Don't think because you do stuff for the other that they should "know" that you love them. I hear this from time to time,,, "they should know that I love them, I mean, look what I do for them"..... You need to tell them, in this case, words speak louder than action...... Actions do count and you need to do that also, show them, but you still have to tell them. Okay,, I seem to blog when my wife is gone... This time she is in Quebec and she got snowed in.... now some of you might not think that is a big deal, but we are from Maui,,, Snow and cold is something that we are not really fond of, even when we are expecting it. LOL I've had a few gigs while she is gone, played golf but it is still hard at nights. The kitties miss her as much as I and so I sit here in Tribeland and read and post. I also got to DJland and read and post there.... I am waiting for my pizza to cook, NOBODY delivers where we live! LOL But the ocean is beautiful today, 4 or 5 colors of blue and the weather is great... I might even go swiming in our pond,,, wish my wife was here to swim there with me................................................ here she is in our pond, I'll pretend....

Kajira's Coming Home!!!

Yep, it will still be a few days, but we talked on the phone today for along time... She's been in CA for Gothla (she LOVED LOVED IT!!) where she performed and she even bought some "stompy" boats.... Now I'm scared!! LOL Then she did a teacher training during the week with Linda and that was fun and Linda was great and a wonderful dancer. I just don't remember where she was from... Then She met up with the wonderful Seba, and they went to the Belly Dancer Of The Univers. Kajira did some judging and teaching and then Kajira and Seba showed off Kajira's BlackSheep ATS Format,, and from the pics I've seen, it was great.... She had a really great time but was sorry Amy from Unmata got sick and had to leave... get better Amy.... Wait,,, this is MY blog,,, ok, so while she was gone, I played golf 4 times, shot an 88, I know you might not know what that means, but ask someone who plays golf, I usuallu shoot in the mid 90's,,,,It's only the second time in my life that I have broken 90.... So that encouraged me to join the club, so now I am a real member of a golf club!!! The Dunes At Maui Lani! I had 4 gigs while she was gone, an LDS dance, 2 weddings and a 40th BD party... all fun.. I made a post and posted pics on my DJ tribe if ya are interested.... wait, I can feel the energy from everyone switching over and joining my DJ tribe! LOL http://tribes.tribe.net/mmm I also have been dealing with some Tribal Fest stuff, class regs and me an Lydia are now close personal friends after having e-mailed about a zillion times in the last few days!! LOL Cool stuff Lydia,,, she seems great. I know that I must have met her throught the years,,,, wait, that's a Kenny Rogers song,,,, anyway, I look forward to seeing her at Tribal Fest... I took van into the shop, where it has now been for almost two weeks,, so I have been carrying my DJ gear in Kajira's car,,,, how embarresssing is that!!??? Have you seen her bumper stickers!!! LOL "Fuck The DJ" what the heck is THAT one suppose to mean!? ;-) Anyway, no matter how busy I am or how much golf I play while she is gone, I still miss the shit outa her and wish she was here on our rock in the middle of the ocean,,,, and that whole "move" thing,,,, well that's another post... J.T. had this on her blog and since I am way bored today, and since I'm not doing what I am suppose to,,, I thought I would steal hers and do my own!! Here goes... Four things about me... Four jobs I have had in my life 1.) Retail - My very first job at 16 was working the "floor" at a Sprose-Ritz store... kinda like a small town "Longs" 2.) Later on I was a Manager for a Car Wash... I was making $2.10 an hour when I asked my 1st wife to marry me. 3.) My parents loved me when I had this job.... I was a Union meatcutter in a store! It was great! Except for that cutting my finger off thing,,, it kinda dulled my excitement! 4.) My fave job, besides being Mr. Kajira and father to Noelle is my current job of 23 years,, a MobileDJ. Movies I've watched more than once: 1.) Robin Hood 2.) Hunt For The Red October 3.) Spinal Tap 4.) Field Of Dreams,,,, Really Most of all Kevin's Movies. Four places I have lived: 1.) Petaluma, CA 2.) Santa Rosa, CA 3.) Novato, CA 4.) Maui, HI.... The first 3 are about 30 miles apart or so. Four T.V. Shows that I watch: 1) NCIS 2) Ugly Betty 3) I miss Beavis and Butthead ... me too! 4) South Park Four Places I have been: 1.) Atlantic City 2.) The Bahama's 3.) My Birthday!

Yep, yesterday was it.... I was wrecked because the night before I got home at 4 am from my DJ gig.... But my lovely wife took care of me and we just chilled around the house. But at 5:30 we had dinner reservations at a new place to eat.... Halii Maile Genral Store. www.bevgannonrestaurants.com WOW!!!!!!! this place has THE rep here on Maui and boy does it deserve it! I had the rib eye steak and a Ceasers Salad!! And I started off with a Guava Mai Tai. Honestly,, the BEST steak I have ever had! Kajira and the Seafood Curry,,,, she was way way happy,,,, of course the class of wine she was drinking helped! LOL She's a cheap date. But the curry was very rich and creamy,,, she says very yummy.... For desert I had the Lilikoi creme brulee in a Almond brittle candied shell with fresh fruit.... To die for!!!! Kajira had the Mango Sorbet,,, good to, but mine was better! :-) We came home it was one of those real clear Maui nights... so at about 7:30 we went out to the back yard and sat on the recliners and watched the stars.... Nothing beats Maui stars from our house. Being off the grid in the middle of nowhere there are zero night lights and you can see them like they are shinning little diamonds in the sky...... That mysterious red and blue blinking light in the sky that never moves is kinda strange and freaky,, it never moves,, just floats there... hummmm Really you can't believe it. With the air being so clean here because of us being so far away and the tradewinds that keep us clear, it is truly humbling to think whatever force made all this, was also caring enough to let me and Kajira end up here in the oh so special spot. It got down to 70 so it was a tad cold so we went inside to hunker down in front of a warm TV.... All in all a wonderful BD.. mahalo Kajira for sharing it with me.... I love you.....

Well whatever it was it's mostly gone because today we felt good enough to go down to our pond for a swim.. (see Kajira in pic)... Tribal Fest stuff is coming along and we are very sorry we so behind... We had hoped to have the shopping cart up by now, but there are some last second teacher changes. Class descriptions and so on. Nothing big, but some little details.. Kajira is getting excited knowing that she has a lot to do and she is going to be leaving again soon... Tribal Fusion Faire and Taiwan again..... the girl can't rest! LOL Maybe one of these days we will find someone who will be able to take some of the load off her. I try to help, but with my business and golf (lol) I only have so much time.... The holidays are here and it will just keep getting busier... Thank god Tempest works her butt off for us! yep,, Mama Sheep and I are both sick at the same time!! And since neither of us does sick very good, well, let's just say we have had more smiles around here! :) But the weather has been great and the Moon the last few nights has been outstanding lighting up the ocean and from our windows, it's a great view... No matter how sick we might feel, Maui is such a calm and relaxing place. We can hear the waves crash and being out in the middle of nowhere, keeps the noise down and are hearts up.... So I hope that you all had a wonderful week-end, and ya know,,, I might get into this blog stuff since it seems like I ain't gotta write anything important..... You Say Dreams Mean Something?????

Okay this might be disturbing for some, you are warned.......... Last night I awoke from a dream... It was like I was watching... somebody was starting to skin people.... they had a knife and started about at the shin, went down across the top of the foot, and was pealing it back, the person was screaming and there was another person there that was going to get it next.... As the "skinner" was getting ready to start on the back of the calf, I woke.... ewwwww... I remembered it, and I told myself that I didn't want to re-dream that..... I fell back asleep, but the dream started again... I awoke and started thinking about snorkeling with Kajira and I fell back to sleep...... But ya know, now that I think of it, I THINK I woke up, could I have dreamed that part too? I don't think so.... but............

A Defining Moment In My Life

I just read a story in "Bestlife" Magazine from Henery Rollins, if you do not know who he is, you should, know your roots kiddies.... Anyway he was selling Haagen-Dazs i9c cream in 1981 when he first heard, then shortly thereafter became the lead singer for Black Flag... He talked about the moment when he was in the audience watching the band, they let himn come up on-stage and sing one of their songs. The next week, they invited him to be the lead singer. He was in DC and sold everything and moved to Detriot... He says that was his "defining moment, having the balls to make that move. So it started me thinking, what was, or did I even have a defining moment in my life? What happened that effected my life as to be a "defining moment? Wow,,, the birth of my daughter? ... that changed my life forever and has made me very proud and happy... but no. Getting married?... well as they say, the third time is a charm and 16 years later, has had a definite effect on my life... but no. Moving to Maui?... more on that later...but no. Getting a divorce? Well as they say "two times lucky" LOL ;-)... sorta... Getting a divorce from my daughter Noelle's mother kick started my defining moment, but I don't think that was it. But it all began with that. But the moment, the one thing that I feel has defined my life as I know it..... Okay history lesson, grab a cold one, or light up a warm one, whatever floats your boat.... I started DJing in 8th grade, for those of you who like years, that would be 1970... but this is not a "how did you start thread" just a history lesson for background... so I have had DJing in my life somehow since then..... Fast forward to 1982, my daughter is born with my second wife. I was a Union butcher is a store making union wages, and getting union benifits, my parents couldn't have been happier. I had a "real" job. At this point, I would be DJing off and on, maybe two or three times a year, mostly private parties and the once in awhile school. But again, this is not a gig thread. Fast forward to around 1984, the year of "The Big D" I'm on my own again, still cutting meat and wondering what is all about, not the meat, but life. I start to think about what I want to do to be happy, what do "I" want to do with my life? I thought about it and realized that I really loved, and love DJing. I COULD stay cutting meat and sliding though life like a gazillion other people just going to work because they feel they have to. Rewind to 1974, my Senior year in high school I meet a guy who's brother is a booking agent who books high school bands,, we become friends because I like loud music (which is why I liked DJing in the first place) and his bands play loud! LOL Back to 1984, I still know Bob the agent.... He's still booking bands.... Here comes my defining moment, still with me? Bored yet? Oh well.... It's just for me anyway.... So I call Bob, now I do not remember the exact moment or the exact words, but I asked Bob if he booked DJs, he said no, they compete with bands, but sometimes he does get calls for them. I told him to call me if he gets a call... About a month later, he called, he had a big Student Convention in San Francisco and they wanted a DJ... I'm on..... since this is not a gig thread, I will spare you the details of the gig, let's just say it was not one of my better gigs... I left unhappy. On the bright side, I discovered Vodka! But Bob, bless his soul,,, saw something in that show,,, he offered me $15,000.00 to go buy some "real" gear, not the RS stuff I had, and he would book me. Now here it comes, this pretty much meant that I had to quit my Union butcher job... well it wasn't a hard choice to make,I quit, my parents disowned me (that's okay, they took me back in about 7 years) and I was off and running. Having the "balls to quit" (quoting Henry Rollins here) I feel was my defining moment in my life. Having been full time now for 22 years this month, having met my wife, you know, the bellydancer, my reason for being, the love of my life, my souldmate (whom I met when I DJ'd her 15 year class reunion, but that's another post) having moved to Maui, and raising my daughter on loud music, I feel, that all this came to pass, because of my defining moment, the moment I quit being a butcher and followed my heart.
